Attenuator plug?I tried PX25 with Momentums. There was distortion due to high gain. You are obsessed with 242 and pretend not to understand the gain issues it creates in most systems. My dac was voiced with 300b, which is quite annoying considering the fact it is not the best sounding tube for Lampi. Now I need to send my dac to Poland to get the best out of it after I already paid almost 15k? Maybe I should look at other dac options instead.
EML PX4, EML mesh 2a3, NU 45, EML mesh 45 anniv globes, EML 25th anniv solid plate 45. Tesla AD1n.Guys, I need your help! I currently use Tak recti with Tak 300b on my GG2. The timbre is nice, but sometimes I wish for more resolution and a better defined bass. I also have 242 and PX25. They a better resolving, but the gain is too much in some situations. I plan to send the dac to Poland to install the high / low gain switch.
Until I do that, I would like to find another low gain output tube, which is better than 300b. Does it exist?
Phono plugs with a resistor in them to attenuate the level. I don't have any distortion from my 242s. But can't turn the vol low enough. I used the digital vol in Jplay, but have to up sample to 32bit for that to work. so I tried the plugs and prefer them. I am happier without the attenuation, but my missus isn't!Attenuator plug?
Crap ...did you contact Luke regarding this already if you got them from him?Unfortunately, one of my Tesla AD1ns is bad. I have only put about 10 hours on them but I noticed a big channel imbalance which swapped sides when I swapped the tubes. I tested them in my Jackson 648 tester and the results matched what I am hearing. There aren’t really settings for AD1s for the tester so I tested them a 4V 300Bs.
I hope Lukas makes good on them.

I do hope it gets solved quickly...
Lukas and I have exchanged emails. He will try to find a replacement. It seems like finding a nice, clean pair is not easy. There have been some issues with other AD1s.
Lucas is an OK seller so hopefully he will come up trumps.
It's such a simple construction internally it is hard for them to go wrong I would guess.
I sold a pair of RD27AS to someone who insisted one was faulty. I asked him to send it back and it was absolutely fine and still is. A very curious mystery. He had even taken it to his 'tube guy' to have a look at.
I have given it a few firm taps etc etc and I just cannot get it to malfunction.
Strange indeed.
Tip: make sure the pins are clean with Deoxit and swap them in their adaptors. if that doesn't work, file the tips of the pins very slightly. That sorted out a Loewe AD1 I have.
I cleaned the pins with fine sandpaper. I don't see any oxidation on the pins. I have tried 2 different adapters. Same result.
Bad luck
I must admit I am surprised you have had more than one issue with them. I have 7 Tesla AD1 and all are fine.
I think you need to sell a pair to fund something else.
I am a bit wary after the RD experience...
I will sell you one if you have one that works. If you give me that mA/V reading of it I can send you something close to it I suspect.
I was expecting you to add your drum track video to the Rock and Drum videos thread
I deleted all my Apogee videos from YT.
If I can find it I will.
I seem to remember I posted the video and an audio file recorded on a Rowland which sounded 83,192 times better than the camera mic a while back.
I might splice that into the video.
You can just post the file. What is a Rowland
Rowland make all sorts of studio kit.
This particular Rowland is a digital audio recorder. Had it years but it really is a high quality sound recorder.
I basically bought it so I could hear myself playing the guitar through the hi-fi.
