But...I want to hear a new Taka 300b as they revised the glass bulb and apparently started producing it on their own and also apparently they made some additional improvements in materials they use. Mr. Tobian received quite a significant batch few days ago and is amazed by the improvement in SQ and based on his opinion those are the first ones super super close to WE300b from 40s and 50s production (and he has quite a few of those as well)...let's see/hear

David afaik if you buy directly from Taka they've sold entire stock of old production ones so should be no issue or doubt. Looking at the pictures Gunter sent me, even the internal structure looks different vs the old ones..
I suspect these are good. Why? Because their 2A3 gold grid is very good value for money. It's working very well in my DAC at the moment, but I haven't bothered to say as it's not supposed to be used in more recent Lampis.

I have never used an EH tube that I have liked. Some of the equipment I have purchased have come with EH tubes as stock, like 6SN7s and 6922s and they have all been awful. I have never tried one of their power tubes.

I find their 2A3 a bit too incisive/sharp, but to counter that it's very clear and detailed with decent tight bass. I don't personally use it much but when I do I think it's great for the money. Supplied to me when I bought my Big 7 by Lampizator.
Somebody on the 300B thread thought their 300B good so I thought why not chime in with it as being a possible cheap punt.
I often think a change is as good as a rest and just enjoy different flavours even if they are not the best options.
That's fine Christoph. It's easy to misread stuff or even misinterpret the intention behind what someone has said.
It is true to say that the EH 2A3 works better in my DAC as it is now than it ever has done.
These tube DACs, even purely from the Lampi stable have varied so much, though, what works well in one won't be so good in another. And with everyone's differing systems, in some significant sense, recommending anything is almost a lost cause. Even when you actually really recommend something, that is
Nevertheless we all love it on here, so we gotta talk about it
Loved the Cunningham 01a’s which Golum recommended. Found a NOS pair of NU 01a’s on the Bay for around $30. Look at these boxes! Pristine condition. Outstanding with the Big 7!! Thrilled with this output tube.
Yes, i had Elrog 274b but unfortunatelly had to return brand new tubes as they both had issue with filament (can’t remember the term now but upon warming up they both produced high pitch noise which was very unpleasant)...TM was kind and proffesional to return the funds so all in all unsuccessful trial at least on my end.
