New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

So now I think Brad gets a B+ for this signing, and he did not go much over the cap for this year's roster. Reports I hear is he is making cap space in time for next year's run at Bradley Beal. :D The past 2 celebrated point guards of the C's averaged around $30m a year and this is a great value deal for a player of Schroder's caliber. Now, to trade 3 or 4 youngsters from their past drafts for seasoned role players. :D

Raptors apparently looking at a total rebuild now that Kyle Lowry is gone.

Trade rumors recently about their trading Pascal Siakim. He would be a nice addition for the Clippers.

How about Kawhi for Pascal? I'd do it but apparently Ballmer won't. ;)

Don't know if the Clips have enough to put together an acceptable trade offer but they have expressed interest in him.

I think the lesson here is that pigs get fat but hogs get slaughtered

One year $5.9 million is a long way to fall from 4 years and $80 million + the Lakers offered.

Hope he recovers next time around. He'll definitely be motivated to perfrom well for the Celtics.
Many pundits are saying that Schroder's passing up all of the money offered by the Lakers and move on to the Celts for much less can backfire on him in FA next year. He might not even be a Celtic next year. He really does need to have an exceptional year. Didn't the same thing happen with Rondo or did he just decide to keep moving on after the Lakers. I think if Rondo wasn't traded from the Hawks to the Clippers, the Hawks might have been better off with hi rather than Lou Williams

I also like this decision to extend Vogel. He seems well respected by the team and LeBron

Lakers announce contract extension for head coach Frank Vogel

Vogel was hired prior to the Lakers' championship season in 2019-20, and led them back to the playoffs in his second year at the helm.

Yes, Frank listens very carefully to LeBron. ;)

It all depends on LeGM. Everything depends on LeGm. He may even be practically the 'acting owner' of his team. :D

I heard the Lakers went with Westbrook rather than Buddy Hield because that was what LeBron wanted. This year will be his last hurrah so he wants all the old guys to help him

Good luck to the Clippers. 4 years is a long time to 'reform' and convert Kawhi into being a true member of the team. Maybe that is what Balmers and Franks see in him.

I wonder if Kawhi realized his star status might be falling as there were no suitors in FA and signed for 4 years, one of which he won't even play. He's been a rolling stone in his career and maybe he felt he had to go for the big one now rather than in 2 years

Takes a lot of guts (and/or lack of brains) to walk away from 80mil when your next best offer is about 25% of that per yr for only a yr. Sounds like maybe ego got in the way.

And re Siakim, how often does trading your best player who is still in early prime (27 yo), work out for the better? Pretty much relies on getting lucky with the draft lottery. Ujiri is obviously a good GM, so we’ll see.

I totally agree. He has a lot to prove this year. To me it was a dumb move on his part

An interesting bunch of predictions about Lillard, Beal and Simmons

Where will they be on opening night?

Steph , to me , remains one of the truly great all around players . He will be a GSW for life. I love that dedication he brings to the sport. He will be in the HOF on the first vote

To me it looks like he just wants to leave the Lakers really badly.
Almost at any "cost"

as the saying goes, "money talks, bull$hit walks"

Schroder demanded too much from the Lakers as to his function on the team. He wanted to be the "playmaker" As I said, I liked him this past year and would have liked him to stay. he can always say that he was replaced by Westbrook who is now the highest paid player on the Lakers at $44M/year
