Printers, copiers et al have always been spying on you; back in the late 80s or 90s, at the government's "urging", Xerox and eventually all others started making laser printers that actually print the document's originating computer's IP address (and probably by now the MAC address) at the top of the page, in extremely fine and sparsely-spaced print that is very hard to detect with the naked eye.
