Sublime Sound

Why do you assume there’s only one pair of Bionors on earth? Do you think there’s only one original American Sound table on earth?

Five years from now I may travel with friends to hear another pair of speakers just like David’s. They will be on a hilltop somewhere remote for anyone to hear. The view at sunset is spectacular.
Peter,

Why are you assuming wrong things for me? Any WBF member should know your statements are false - David told us about it long ago - and I have been here since long.

Anyway I thought that my question could bring some objective answers and suggestions about possible speakers that could match David objectives in his room and system - not just about beautiful hilltops and sunsets. My mistake, sorry.

this question has been asked by you and others. It has also been answered many times. The issue is, very few actually investigate. Many who have asked the question do it to chat post but there are no follow ups

I think he implied that a pair of Bionor might pop up at Rockitman's.

Quick google search with the terms "Klangfilm Bionor" points out to several Bionor setups, some of them restored, some of them original. So "unobtanium" they aren't, they are very difficult to buy in original condition, but not unobtanium. And I'm pretty sure that if the person who searches is fluent in japanese, setup image results will increase drastically. There was a japanese website (now sadly taken down) that showed a mono Bionor setup with WE electronics in a rural house. And how many Bionor owners post pictures of their setups? That's another factor to consider.

Much closer to unobtanium are Moriyama and Machida systems that ddk visited, with two Epson idlers (ultra rare) and speakers made out of wood that needed 10 years to cure driven by custom amplifiers with super rare 4212E DHT tubes.

I think that the "best" audio system belongs to some weirdo guy living at some remote part of the world in the top of a mountain, with one off equipment and true unobtanium stuff, probably even custom one off speaker drivers of which there's not even a picture. I'm sure that such a unicorn exists, just not documented in the internet o_O

Micro, I know there is a second pair that I might be able to hear. My story about hilltops and sunsets may well become reality in five years. I've been to the hilltop, and seen the sunset. You laugh, but I know. That is all I want to say publicly. BTW, I also recently read that someone heard a pair of these Bionors in Europe once too. I don't think those were David's, but I am not certain. You are simply mistaken. Sorry.

@PeterA is hinting at a future listening space for the Bionors I'm working on. Appropriately sized for them and in a very special location!

Atop this mountain... can one answer the meaning of life?

(the universe, and everything = 42):p

no offense, but it doesn't matter what cables or speaker position your Magicos are in - they still sound like Magicos. that's what dominates sound in a particular space.

Keith, it is fine if you do not think cables, cords or speaker position matter. You are welcome to come visit and tell me if you think my Q3s sound like different Magicos you have heard in completely different spaces and system contexts. When did you hear a pair of Q3s?

Are you arguing that your YGs sound like the YGs I heard years ago at an audio show? That there is a YG sound? If so, could you describe the YG sound on your search thread so that I know where you are coming from? Thank you.

I didn't say that - its a fact that transducers dominate the sound in any room. You can't make a Magico sound like a horn, no matter what ancillaries you change. I'm not sure why this is controversial. The paths are totally different as are the sonics. Its even all quite measureable.

And $5 Ching Chengs that requires a $90k Lamm stack to sound "natural" doesn't impress me either, but that's a different conversation.

Well for sure there is a pair here or there...but are they available, what condition and what price...all that adds up to unobtanium because even if we all wanted and could afford them AND had space for them AND our wives (or whatever) woudl accept them would there be enough to service all of WBF? I doubt it. I guess we can't all become DDK disciples afterall... I will have to be satisfied with lesser sized horns . :D

The CC cords sound good on my Io Eclipse phono, MBL amps and 30 year old Primare monos i use in my TV setup. They are not picky ! :)

Really? It impressed me. Keith your comment IMHO is baseless as I am betting you’ve never heard the combination. Amazing how negative bias works

I don't have CCs, but my $ 28 K preamp/amp combo sounds pretty good on $ < 10 standard cords. Just sayin'.
