Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Does anyone have a technical explanation for this?

Haven't looked up the earlier posts on this, but it has been generally recommended for personal computers, iphones, and I occassionally find it beneficial for my smart TVs.

Though some of these won't apply, and Emile has mitigated others, you can get the idea from these few items (though I'm sure XDMS developers wouldn't allow memory leaks ;))

I would suggest using a temporary network switch to connect the Aurender, Extreme, and your computer to the same network? That will make for the simplest solution.
Christiaan,
This worked great. Thanks.

I had a dream last night about restarting my Extreme and after the double tap and a restart lo and behold my screen said XDMS. Can miracles really happen

This Damn Taiko Extreme is Blowing me away! I've lost track of the hours. I'm playing "A song for you" By Jacintha, Jeremy Monteiro And His Orchestra. My goodness, I have this huge smile on my face! Extraordinary presentation...

i liked it better the first way :), with the subtle reference to the second

That new taiko logo works for me.

Goat=greatest-of-all-time

Goats in the machine=Extreme

I'll leave it to someone more visually oriented to create the design logo.

Waiting for the goat named xdms.
Since it may be getting crowded in there, I'll gladly throw out roon to make room for that new s/w goat.

Waiting for goat or waiting for Goat-o?

My personal view, but GOAT is a much better name for this player than XDMS. Short, easy to remember, and one syllable- kinda like 'Roon'.

All, I feel a need to share my most recent upgrade...

Since the release of Taiko USB Driver (back in 2022-02) I have rather happily been using Roon together with Taiko's USB Driver - patiently waiting for XDMS like everyone else.

However, like most of you, I felt a need to scratch the upgrade itch. I decided it was time to re-explore TAS. Before 2022-02 I did try TAS and did not appreciate the UX much - after the release of the Taiko USB Driver and the subsequent SQ improvement it brought to Roon I was patiently waiting for the final SW solution, as explained in this great architectural diagram https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/taiko-audio-sgm-extreme-the-crème-de-la-crème.27433/post-707368 posted by @Taiko Audio

So, I bugged Taiko Support to help me get starting with TAS again - this was two days ago.

After some great assistance from @EuroDriver I was ready to try out TAS.

Since then I have been stuck in a listening loop... :)

The difference between latest Roon and TAS - both using Taiko's USB Driver is stupendous!

All my complaints on TAS UX are overshadowed by the sound!

Maybe I am the last user on the forum to switch to TAS - but in case I am not, do yourself a favor and switch to TAS and let your Extreme run free!

I haven’t used Roon since the first alpha version of TAS. To my ears TAS has always been the path I’ve followed. The platform and interface simply suck but all is forgotten when the lights are out and music is playing. Roon doesn’t come close IMHO. Waiting for XDMS is like a kid waiting for Christmas knowing what will be there for him. Only problem is Christmas can’t come soon enough. There are still plenty of Extreme users who still use Roon because they don’t like the platform for TAS. Such a pity. I have always been chasing the best SQ. XDMS will be the icing on the cake as they won’t release it until it is a finished product that is better in every way than Roon. All good things come to he who waits. Emile has recently said there have been bumps along the way wherein some recent code to XDMS actually undermined the sound and they had to throw out 6 weeks of work. To me this shows the grit and determination of Taiko to deliver exactly what they have promised. To say we are all hoping Christmas comes early this year is an understatement. For my ears TAS has always been superior to Roon

John,
You are obviously delusional. Bits is bits. I absolutely cannot relate to your experience.

Now where is that emoticon?

:D ;)

If TAS had gapless play I wouldn’t be anxiously awaiting XDMS. I am fine with the sound quality and I can live with the rudimentary interface but the gaps between songs for those that shouldn’t have them is a buzz kill.

The plot thickens...With the help of Edward (Thank YOU) just installed TAS. Undeniably different delivery than ROON. Maybe 4 tracks of listening, more engaging is my very first observation. A sense of stillness my 2nd...3rd more spaciousness... Clunky yes, but I can see or hear in a very short period of time why a lot of you put up with the clunkyness....
