May be check your "DAC" cable to see if its seated all the way on both ends. Also check your SFP cage on the switch to see if that is seated all the way and the locking clip is engaged ?Just as I was about to relax and have a glass of wine and enjoy the music… “no connection to server”. The switch has two ports. One for DAC cable, the other which can be either Fiber or CAT5. In order to connect either of those cable, you have the SFP cage which needs to be inserted and you lock it with a little yellow tab that you lock in place so that SFP cage doesn't get dislodged. And as far as the DAC cables - do those have any kind of lock? I noticed the silicone black tether - that’s just if you connect two DAC cables together, right?

The purpose of the bail is to allow unlocking and removing the adapter from the SFP cage. When you insert the RJ-45 adapter into the SFP cage on the Taiko switch, make sure the bail is full up and that it stays that way when you insert the RJ-45 end of your ethernet cable.

Not having the traditional network card in is not ideal - how to diagnose now?
You still have the motherboard ethernet connections, LAN 1 and LAN 2 on the back of the Extreme near the USB ports, you can plug your ethernet cable into to VNC into the Extreme for troubleshooting. Thank you!@Zeotrope - can you connect a copper cable to one of the motherboard NICs and VNC to your Extreme (the IP will change)?
If you can, then right click on the Extreme's start menu and select Device Manager. Expand network adapters, and you should see something like this:

If you see all 3 NICs with no warning sign, then the NIC is fine.
If you see a warning sign on the NIC, then you are running into the bracket toleration issue. If that's the case, you have several ways if fixing it (at least temporarily). The easiest way is to turn off the Extreme from the power switch on the back for a few minutes.

SoundTestInstalled the network card, connected the switch and was just about to run the script but VNC erased my password once the ip changed. Can anyone please message me if they know this info.
