What do you know? I have a Ph.D in Aerosol Chemistry.
That's very interesting.
In what specific field do you work, or teach?

I only ask because you have portrayed yourself as someone with specific expertise in climate science.

SQUIRREL!!!!!

I thought we were talking about what cars we've had???
Sorry Bruce.
Back to the cars. Here's that Best Motoring Toyota Yaris vid i promised.
If we can all be satisfied with lightweight, small capacity turbocharged performance cars, there may yet be hope for the biosphere.

I don't know if you can specify a 'green' tariff living in the US.?
Here in the UK you can select a supplier or tariff that is from renewable sources only.
i am not sure what a "green "tariff" is Rest assured Tesla was heavily subsidized here the U.S. We are beginning to see he is not the business genius he thinks he is. More like the new Rupert Murdoch of the internet.

By tariff i mean plan or package.
In the UK we can change supplier without having to make any physical change to the property or it's power supply.
We can then select a provider of our choice. Some are strictly renewable, others may have a standard, and then a green tariff or plan.

Re Musk, I'm not in a position to comment as i don't use any of his products.
But he does seem to be performing a perfect how- not- to- run a company - demonstration.

Seems like a few of the tech billionaires are in the process of discovering the limits of their abilities.

You're either a liar or don't know the facts. Tesla borrowed once on an energy dept. loan made available to OEMs that qualify. People like to say bail out but they were never bailed out. Tesla then paid back the loan early with interests, and, possibly early penalties. GM got bailed out and never paid back anything. Same with Ford. The US tax payers were on the hook for those.

You don't have to like Elon nor Tesla the car but to say they were heavily subsidized is a bit of a stretch. They maxed out any rebates years ago (same with GM) and haven't had any governmental assistance for a long time. If you are referring to the carbon credits, that would be from other OEMs who cannot produce any/enough "clean energy" vehicles to offset their ICE productions. So they either have to pay a penalty or buy credits from someone else. Again, that portion plays a small part of their revenue.

There was also independent studies showing even with "dirty" manufacturing and electricity production, an EV is still cleaner than an ICE vehicle. I'm sure the coal burning electricity portion of the world is not as clean as places than make it with hydro/wind/etc. But it averages out to still be better.

The random hate and regurgitation from biased main stream media really irks me. Like reading from the Verge and yelling at people that audiophiles are retards.

Back on topic: Actually I got nothing else other than I still love cars and there are desirability from both sides. Like Casio is not gonna put Rolex out of business.

I am sorry I offended the Elon Musk cult.
The purchase of an electric car is subsidized. The Electric Vehicle Rebate In California And Other Incentives — Coltura - moving beyond gasoline
The production of electricity is dirty. Those clean batterys have to be charged. Let alone the chemicals used to make them.
Providing a platform for racist, fascists, and antisemites is wrong.
Sometimes I have to take the punishment for speaking out.
I don't know Elon Musk. I don't hate him. I never owned a Tesla or used Twitter. It is just that the cognitive dissonance of some of his followers is interesting.
Spoiler alert: cult members look away.

I currently work in the Pharma Industry developing inhalation products. I did my PhD and postdoc on environmental air pollution sources and characterization of aerosol emissions and looking at aerosol climate forcing.

Thank you

So will aerosol climate forcing save us from AGW?

My geologist friend is greatly concerned about a significant opposing force and an increasing source of emissions, methane clathrates. It seems we're at a tipping point, and future warming could be erratic and sudden leading to further large releases from seabed sediment and deposits in permofrost, creating a feedback loop

Would you forsee an increase in aerosol climate forcing as a result of, and a counterbalance to the warming trend?

Ok, in the absence of a response i will broaden the question.
Is there any mechanism within your field of expertise that will counterbalance anthropogenic global warming and stop us from exceeding 1.5 degrees of warming by the end of the century?

This seems unlikely because that wasn't the argument you made when you intervened.

So would it be true to say that your rejection of the scientific consensus on AGW isn't based on anything learned within your speciality, but merely on a denial of the facts as currently understood and accepted by the vast majority of climate scientists?

@morricab - any thoughts on the new Emira Brad? I was watching Harry’s (Garage) video earlier this afternoon of driving his new one through your country.
No thoughts yet but maybe I will give it a look. The Lotus dealer is about 45 minutes from me.

A Phantom Drophead. A really beautiful very big car with fantastic line, proportion and detail that stands against time. No other car has the solid build like it. Super comfortable. The start-stop motion is seamlessly smooth as silk. Gigantic but easy to drive. Does not break once in the 12 years period of ownership. My kids love convertible. They have been in all kind of car but only talk of convertibles. The Austin Healy actually has been bringing more laugh and joy from my kids most. That's what they will remember I drove them to school in when I pass away. Memory is precious for me.

Driving the Mazda RX7 was fairly uneventful. I am sure someone could have pushed into distress. It handled everything I threw at it with ease.
In about year 7 it started to leak oil. I took in for service and got a1$20. estimate. I got a call from the service manager. The engine was blown and they wanted me to pay for it. I reminded him that I drove the car in. In addition they had performed an exhaustive examination in order to determine the cause of the leak, There was only one problem. After some back and forth, he told me how long it take to order a rebuilt engine. The car was basically out of production. I was feeling a bit frisky and asked if he would could cancel the $ 1200 estimate. He told me how lucky I was to get a free engine and not to push it. I could have sued them myself but I would have to hire an expert.
To this day I am convinced the mechanics took it for a " test drive" and blew the engine.

Or even a MP 4 12 C carbon monocoque /1300 kg car (dry)
624 HP and still a stunning car with great specs.
With that kind of weight / powerratio the ride is a blast off course.
And the audiophile level expirience is there when those twinturbos kick in.
