The State of High End Audio

Micodynamics.

You guys think I actually don't care about how things sound. The problem is, you don't actually absorb the posts I share, and just harshly react based on what pops into your minds on impulse. I'm neither an objectivist, or subjectivist. I'm more of a realist. I care about both equally.

Is caring synonymous with not knowing due to lack of experience

Once again you assume I have no experience. Well one day you will have some of the gear I talk about in your system. We will have this conversation again once the time comes.

well; you post so much about opinions of gear you have never heard and push your own alternatives, how can we think you care about how things sound?

if it's your rec's then we all have to hear it to understand, but if it's not then your not having heard it is never a problem for you.

don't you see how other's might view the two-faced nature of your approach?

with 2323 posts in 4 months, who has time to get to the core thought of any of your posts? maybe you could point out the profound ones that we should do the deep dive into?

in a Blizzard, who can count the snowflakes?

I'm not pushing my own alternatives, just giving everyone a heads up where the industry is going.

If you don't understand the message, simply don't object to it then.

Blizzard, could you describe the last time you heard a good turntable and what was in the rest of the system, especially the tonearm and cartridge? And, of even more interest to me, could you describe the conditions under which you last did a direct comparison between an analog and a digital front end? How did they sound different to you? What was the last classical concert that you attended?

These are just some of the kinds of experiences some of the audiophiles on this forum have had. If you have done those things recently, then we share some similar experiences. If not, that is fine and not a big deal, as far as I am concerned, however, it would indicate that you have had different experiences from many members here. Also, not necessarily a bad thing.

We all make many assumptions about each other. From my questions above, you may think I am presuming something about you. Many consider me to be a subjectivist and because I have a turntable based system and no digital, some think I have no interest in fidelity, measurements or accurate sound. I contend that I am interested in all three, though it may not appear that way based on the types of discussions I have on this forum. So, many of us are susceptible to jumping to conclusions about others and then forming judgements. It may not be fair.

I am pleased to learn that you value actual listening to help form opinions about gear and that you care equally about the subjective and objective aspects of this hobby. I would not have thought that about you from reading your many posts. I am sorry for having jumped to that conclusion.

The state of high end audio is reflected by how we share it on audio forums and on how many units are purchased and by money transfers (economy of scale).
The quality of that state is the most appealing attraction...to me.

and you either failed to read my above post, or just ignored the points I made. sound familiar?

my post speaks to listening and whether not listening to something is an issue when commenting. you pushing your own alternatives is not what I posted about.

Perhaps, but you are doing so with opinion that seems (to me) rather absolute in nature.

The reason it's so "absolute" is because all the industry leaders who are the guiding lights in the industry are on board with this. You can only fight innovation so long before it's a losing battle. the response I'm getting around here is similar to what one would expect when going into a kindergarten class and announcing there's no Santa claus.

Mike (Lavigne),

You have a state-of-the-art room inside a top-notch stereo hi-fi system; what's your take on the state of high end audio?

And two; what was the last film you watched in your home theater room? :b

Forty years and we still have tubes, vinyl and a highend. Not bad for a cottage industry and a niche market.

Longer than forty... Although a Forty may be the drink of choice for some. :)

King Cobra was my favorite when I was 16 buying it from the Koreans down the street in Houston. My high school rock band always sounded better (to me) after I downed one.

We used to say to the audiences; "the more you drink, the better we sound." :D

Looks like you had a refined palate at the early age of 16! Voted the best of the worst. :)
