Thats already a bit late i would think .
China knows how to make things themselves now , so they dont really need the west that much anymore .
If you make an i phone for 20 + years and you are not happy with your share , you end up making some sort of product yourself .
(For example )
The west helped china in the saddle and they can ride themself now im afraid .
Taking some production back im all for it , good idea for the future

Ps i worked with chinese companies/ workers for over 1 year in africa .
Most dont go home for the entire construction , 1.5 years.
Work from 7- 7 7 days a week 365 Days a year

There is no way anybody else in the world is gonna take ( accept )that or compete with that.
Do i think its good /healhty no for sure not

China needs/wants our volume. The West or the US is never going to start manufacturing everything we use. Let China make the plastic crap everyone buys from Walmart. We should not be relying on China for medicines, medical equipment, safety equipment, network infrastructure equipment, etc. It is mind boggling to be relying on the enemy for this.

After all the selfish chaos of the very first wave of change a new natural public order and calm are seeming to emerge here.

Panic buying is currently seeming to fall away, new systems of working and living are coming forwards. There has been a marvellous acceptance of the need to respond positively to this emergency where we are.

Good values are more in evidence than ever and childlike selfishness is starting to fall away.

I believe the greater is coming and the lesser is falling away.

Good humour and concern are the elements winning over the panicked selfish displays often typified in the very first weeks of our current new reality.

Health services are continuing to amaze, I hope we don’t exhaust them.

I hope that you are finding this also in your part of the world. Peace out to all the brotherhood. If we keep this up we may yet be a species deserving of salvation.

I just hope it endures.
History show good intentions at times of crisis are frequently forgotten,
The UK Govt vowed to buld a land fit for heroes at the end of the First World War and signally failed to do so.

Hey. Moderator. So Chinese is now the "enemy" of American on this site?

You are making things up again and putting words in my mouth. China, as in the country, is not an ally of the USA. This is fact.

So do I Barry... the only way is up.

It’s always easier to blame things on foreign enemies, than actually look
at own shortcomings political or financially ;)

20-20 hindsight is so much easier than 20-20 foresight

IDK Steve... Tons of folks warned about exactly this, wrote books about it, formed response plans all about THIS. EXACT. SCENARIO.

So this isn't new, it may be new to many of us, but this isn't a case of some novel event nobody could possibly understand and prepare for. In fact, exactly the opposite!

Which means there is a reason we made a conscious choice NOT to act. "We" made the decision to completely ignore the threat and let it infect everyone. I think it was hoped that it simply wouldn't be noticed. "Our" response to the threat matches this scenario perfectly. And yes, I do think it's a criminal act to willfully choose to not prepare for this when we had the chance. I won't speak for the motivation behind this decision as that's obviously political, but we have to understand THE CHOICE WAS MADE at some point to IGNORE this threat.

There's certainly plenty of blame to go around on this! Unfortunately, it's an important topic so we can form reasonable plans to prevent this from happening ever again. Normally, I would say playing the blame game is a juvenile and destructive point of view but in this case I'm not so sure.

At least one friendly Chinese member here stepped back his daily activity. I continue to wish him and his family good health and continued prosperity so I can endure au fait comments about musical selections from him for years to come.

We know the administrations of100-200k deaths represents a best case scenario. One doctor claims one million deaths if we continue on our current course.
What is a hospital but a place where you treat sick people. The tools we need are easily produced.
We lack leadership and will, not resources.

How is it possible that after all this time the testing capacity in the US is still limited? Why aren't all the major US companies being forced to produce items that are specific to the care of people fighting this pandemic? Why isn't there a test yet for people who have recovered to see if they have antibodies and can help to restart the economy?

We do need more resources in addition to leadership.

Here in the UKwhere we have also suffered from inadequate preparations and response it is being taken for granted that there will be an independent inquiry into the handling of the Covid 19 crisis.
It is widely reported that Ministers and civil servants are taking great care in their communications to avoid any blame.
It will be interesting to know if other countries are contemplating similar action.

This is exactly the question we must ask ourselves. It's obvious and undeniable a conscious decision was made NOT to prepare, to ignore it, to let it infect our country.
Honestly Dave do you think it was
conscious ? All over the world with different governments this virus has
surprised. The tough decision to close down and hurt your own economy, against maybe having
widespread infection. It not easy.
Part of the problem is the delay factor of this decease, when you
start seeing high numbers, it is almost to late. I think it is case of wishful thinking, more than deliberation.

We in Denmark closed everything down before we had our first casualty, but are still putting together
a bipartisan commission to find
out what we did wrong and be better
prepared for next time.
