same people keep spouting off politics and these threads turn into a s#$#storm. respectively I ask for this thread to be shut down.
Why not simply visit other threads, if this one is not
something you appreciate ?
I have not seen any open animosity
anywhere, just grownups sharing
information, a good place to pick
up information from sources in different countries and media.

If you haven't watched the movie Contagion from 2011, this is the time to do it. It was discussed here years ago https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/contagion-trailer.3845/ . I see other references on this site from 2017.

It is chilling - even shocking - how it realistically portrays what is happening right now, down to the very last frame. Don't miss the prophetic language all around, especially in the Chinese village between the scientist and the child - all 10 seconds of it. It is so good that it is effectively a documentary of our times.

Now even The Washington Post is questioning whether it is a mere coincidence that this coronavirus originated in Wuhan, the same city in which the Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory, the only high-security virus research laboratory in China, is located:

Ron! You gave me a warning earlier for posting "conspiracy theory" about why the US response has been so poor. You can't possibly post this and tell me what I said was conspiracy theory and this is not!!!

The Daily Show has an interview with Bill Gates. His foundation has significant experience fighting infectious disease.
He has put up 100 million for a vaccine.
He predicted an outbreak of this type.

It is not my intention or desire in any way to be hypocritical. I genuinely and honestly did not discern a conspiracy theory in The Washington Post piece I posted.

You asserted that the U.S. made decisions and took actions deliberately to not minimize American fatalities from the virus. That is a conspiracy theory, because you allege a conspiracy.

Not every theory is a conspiracy theory. What is the conspiracy theory in The Washington Post piece I posted?

My dear Lagonda it's just the nature of some.

Why be so afraid of a little disagreement ? No one is being called names, and as a grownup i do consider myself able to spot when something is total bullshit, and i haven’t seen any of that here

Seriously? The entire premise that the virus is from a CCP lab is a conspiracy theory! It's the definition of conspiracy theory.

Also if you deleted what I said why repeat it here? You're twisting my words and ascribing a different meaning to them. What I said was that a decision was made to let the virus run it's course here, the "herd immunity" model that the UK initially went for. If you're planning on denying the existence of the virus then you obviously don't need tests and PPE to counter it, and I think that's why the response was so slow and even now it's 5-7 days to get test results and only the sick get tests. This is insanity!

Respectfully, we will have to agree to disagree. I do not agree that every theory is a conspiracy theory.

The word "conspiracy" has independent meaning. Generally, in criminal law, a conspiracy involves two or more people taking action in furtherance of a crime.

A scientist who accidentally fails to decontaminate himself from viral particles and leaves his laboratory and accidentally infects someone has not committed a conspiracy. Literally by definition, the theory that this may have happened is not a "conspiracy" theory.

I was called a deplorable.

Al

precisely my point. I continue to disagree

Gravely weakened patients have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Al. The FDA and medical boards have relaxed their indications Doctors prescribe drugs in off label use all of the time for no other reason than they work and you continue to say that the medical boards and FDA are wrong as you continue to take issue with it.
I respectfully disagree Al

Again, I respect your individual decision, and I have no problem with your view, Steve. What I do have a beef with is making it into a general recommendation, or pretending it already is one, based on scientific proof, when it's not.

Agreed, Ron.

As I said, I find the idea that it happened that way awfully plausible, unfortunately.

Dave we have exactly the same problems with testing here in Europe
it lags behind and is just not available
for everyone. Our priorities have been
very sick people, and health care workers, if you don’t have enough tests and people to administer them you have to prioritize. We where told to stay home if we had any symptoms at all. A test is not a cure anyway, and until a antigen test is available it will not tell you if you are
immune, you can become infected the day after you test negative.

And that is out of line, but you can handle it ;), would you like to have the thread closed down ?

No I would not. If jeffrey_t was banned for life that would be sufficient but I know the mods don’t enforce rules for certain people.
