Oh I see. Censorship. He can insult me but I can’t defend myself? That is your opinion. Maybe I should go back to posting on X where I can say whatever I want.

Clearly this forum is designed to cater to manufacturers who might want to advertise here, politically correct democrats, and those who are easily offended by an opinion which differs from the status quo. A little bit of drama livens things up, but clearly you can’t do that here because we have censoring which cancels you if it doesn’t agree with what you write. How sad.

OMGGGGG. Listen to you. You believe the magazines. You can’t possibly believe they exist for any other reason than to sell advertising. If you think otherwise, you are an ignoramus. Why don’t they ever post a negative review? This whole review thing is a scam and so are these stupid awards. They are used to help dealer sell products to morons who are dumb enough to believe the garbage they write in these magazines
bless your heart, what are you 7 years old

You have strong opinions but you give reasons for them. That dealer would be Cumberland Audio and the owner was named Rick.
I am ignoring the fellow you’re addressing (started yesterday), so I don’t know what he said. But if the Cumberland you’re referring to is the one that was on the second story opposite what became The Coin Purse, I was there when it was being built. Nero Griswald owned much of the area there around the HG Hills and the Green Hills Market (both long gone now). He had two sons, Nelson and Johnny. Nero built the store. Steven Long ran it, with Nelson and Johnny on staff, and Jim Crouch for outside sales.

That was maybe 37 years ago.

Steven was (is) one of the brightest and most creative guys I’ve ever known. But he moved on fairly early on.

Johnny eventually ran Nero’s Grill. They specialized in things like exotic meats (elk, for example) and family recipes (like the corn cakes that were sort of a cross between hoe cakes and hominy pancakes). When Nero died, Johnny closed the restaurant (adjacent to the Noshville parking lot), and went fishing. I really miss the restaurant … Nero had had a small restaurant back in the day, and it was a nostalgic destination for me.

I don’t know Rick, but he must have bought it from Nero, or perhaps there were intervening owners.

The theme of Cumberland Audio when it opened had a British flavor … audio stores are great places to make friends.

Pay no attention to the troll. WBF and its members are better than this. I am not a Wilson owner but I can show respect because others spent their hard earned money on it because they believe in it and enjoy it.

Yes T Cumberland Audio was on the second floor but as I remember it was in Green Hills. I could be wrong. It's been a long time ago. I don't remember what happened to Rick. He was a nice guy to do business with. He also tried to sell me a Duntech Sovereign. Talk about a speaker with powerful bass. He had some huge speakers in that day. Cool Springs is further out. I seem to recall Cumberland Audio being on Hillsboro Rd a little past the Green Hills shopping center. I have several test cd's. I put one on that goes from 200 Hz to 20 Hz. One of the most impressive qualities of my XVX is that in my room it has a powerful 100 Hz warble tone. In my room this note was always weak with every other speaker I have had. I'm pretty flat until 40 Hz but the excess energy in the 40 Hz warble is largely room noise. If you filter this out the 40Hz note is 2-3 dB louder than my 50Hz warble. Next the 31.5 is quite strong as is the 25 and 20Hz. The room shakes powerfully with the 20Hz warble. It's loud. I don't have a bass bump per se. On jazz my bass is quick and not exaggerated. If you are ever in Nashville I would enjoy having you over for a listen. I really like my bass. There is no boom or undamped quality to my bass. I'm listening to the Joe Henderson Big Band cd. It's a stern test because it can sound bass shy and harsh in most systems. In my system it sounds amazing.

I think that you have every right to post and say what you like. You have paid your dues. I am new to WBF. I come from AA that is a much tamer more congenial easy going website. Folks here have strong opinions. I like this now that I understand the flavor and tone of WBF. I don't think that you are a troll. You don't like the mags or the Wilson sound but you obviously like McIntosh and you have a great speaker in the Focal EVO. As far as the mags you are correct in that they depend on good will and adds. They rarely post a bad review but I still enjoy them. And they do contain some useful information. However, there's more to them than reviews. I recently purchased Rory Block Positively 4th Street A Tribute to Bob Dylan based on a review in TAS. It's an excellent cd. I'm a Bob Dylan fan and she does an excellent tribute to him.

Ok, I will not refer to anyone as ignorant again

If you can't see it? I can't help you. This will be my last post on this subject publicly.

You need help.

What kind of help?

Yes .. I was describing Green Hills. The second Noshville is in Green Hills, and that may be what’s confusing. We lived in Green Hills in the 70’s.

The Green Hills Market on the right as you headed toward Forest Hills was THE Landmark, literally for decades. HG Hills was west of that, with a huge parking lot. These old landmarks are long gone. Like telling someone to turn at the old oak tree that used to be there.

This thread has gone off the rails. Can we get it back to the topic of the Wilson XVX speaker please?

Excellent idea. An interesting quesition on the XVX. Since it was released in 2019 and they update their speaker on a 5 year schedule that you could practially set a clock to I would expect the series 2 to be next year. What do you think Wilson Audio wil change with the seris 2 XVX?

Interesting question. I'm hoping they come out with a version 2.0 soon so I can purchase a used XVX on trade in!

Hello,

I just noticed your system. Are you considering doing anythign different with your source? While a Mac Mini can stream audio I have found that lowering the noise floor of the stramer to produce very substancial sonic diviedends. (I know this is not XVX related, but I thought I would ask)

I appreciate your comments. I have my eye on a Taiko server in the future, but need more space to accommodate it. Are there more incremental changes in server you'd suggest?

You have a very nice system. Its just that the Mac Mini sticks out as the clear under performer compared with the other components. Taking care of the network side is always a good thing to do. The idea is to clean up the noise coming into the mac. A good low noise audiophile grade switch would be good and you could also use it with which ever server you go with. I really like the Reiki Audio switch. There are also a lot of ethernet noise filters that help. A couple good ones would be the CAD Ethernet Control and the Aardvark Ultra. If the mac mini has some empty inputs/outputs such as USB or RJ45 you could use on the of the CAD or Chord Company dongles. all of these things help lower the noise floor of any streamer/server.

Whatever irritates Tascam the most will be priority ..!
