We have dedicated lines run for our system. Our LED lights are run on the regular house lines. There’s absolutely no difference, on/off, plugged/unplugged.
I love what both Mike and TLi have come up with. I've been just using a Tiffany floor standing lamp next to my turntable and it radiates enough light for me to be able to see what I'm doing.
