Visit to Marc C.'s (SpiritOfMusic's) House in England

Assuming reasonable naturally good acoustics, you are gonna LOVE yr new larger room. I can honestly say given the choice, I wouldn't go back to my old room even if it now came w an AF0, MSB Select, D'Ags and WAMMs.

Justin, tell us more about this detached listening room possibility!

Ron,

See below for a pic from the house brochure.

I actually have some real pics but it looks really bare at the moment and this, while a poor photo from my phone of the brochure itself, kinda shows it better.

It is an outhouse completely detached with kitchenette, showerroom with toilet and basin etc.

So a nice place to spend a Friday night with chilled drinks and some sounds.

It was never designed as a music room, but I feel it will be pretty good.

So unless our buyer pulls out this is it.

Solid floor and brick walls. Nothing is going to bounce around and vibrate etc etc.

The garden needs landscaping. There's ample space in the main house for 2 more systems. One room is much larger than this!

Very large coffered sky lights are good, as mixing chambers for ambience, especially since it otherwise looks like a flat roof.

Yeah it is a flat roof.

It's going to be nice to have the space the put all my guitars, guitar amp, analogue gear I haven't used for a few years, records etc in one place.

If you are getting full range please put a bed there for me as well might stay a bit

Ked, he's putting in some kind of ghetto blaster boom box spkrs. He's been told this is best for his vast selection of Bollywood soundtracks.

I think tumbleweed will take up residence first before any of that.

If I open the doors the way that garden is at the moment...

Send me money for landscaping. Immediately.

So Ked will do all the gear and Mook tweaks.and you're sorting out the garden.

What a brilliant forum this is.;)

You've been watching too much (un)reality tv.

Justin, instead of talking about theoretical rooms Lol, here in the real world (if calling anything real in this crazy hobby isn't an oxymoron!)...

Install of new tonearm has got me making a whole series of changes. From dropping my subs output drastically, to now removing Panzerholz slabs AND Symposium Acoustics Svelte Shelves from under my Zus. Now the Zus are on Revopods footers direct on the floor.

Removing the Panz really tightened up the upper mids/treble re sharper, more ordered presentation, more air.

Removing the Sveltes has tightened up the lower mids and esp bass. Kick drums way more articulate, bass harmonics nicely fleshed out.

No general conclusion to draw other than maybe that extra 2" of height wasn't ideal esp re tweeter. But the change is hugely welcome, having it at both ends of the spectrum is a bonus.

And that mixing tweaks is maybe a mistake.

I also tried going back to stock spikes, but Revopods way superior. Freeing up my Sveltes is great for using them elsewhere in my system.

Congrats! Are you still ordering the big Odeons?

Thanks Ron. Pop over next time you're in the UK!
Did you move since I was at your place?
Sorry for OT in Marc's thread

I don't think Justin ever said he was getting horns. I'm ok being the person who receives misdirected mail.

I think you are confusing Justin with someone else.
Justin has Apogees
But then again, I also have Apogees and have/had Odeons :D

No still there I am about to move into the place pictured above. Before Xmas is possible but probably early next year.
