Gryphon Antileon Revelation. Not sure about details but I think: 165W/channel. Up from 150. 20 amp iec vs 15 amp. Now uses transistors from the Apex. Price maybe $45,500. Could all be wrong but we’ll know for sure at Munich.

I've been thinking about upgrading from my Diablo 300 to separates in the form of an Antileon Evo and a Pandora, it will be interesting to see the reviews of this new Antileon Revelation when it hits the streets. Of course we all want to have the latest and greatest and most updated stuff, but I'm thinking how much better can it be than the current model Evo? And perhaps it might be a good time to pick up an Evo at runout prices....

Great question. I own Evo and look towards the Revelation. I’m sure you will be very happy with either choice.

I had an EVO and Pandora. I thought I was set for life.

I get it. Now I'll upgrade to Revelation and whatever will replace Pandora when it comes out.
No, I was in freefall at the time. My first Gryphon purchase was a Pandora with the Legato Phono stage inside it. I just wanted those two things. Easy buy. Then my Audio Guru said, well, you will need a proper Amplifier and he suggested the Antileon Evo. Seemed right. The Antileon arrived months before the the Pandora. When I finally put the two together I added the Kalliope DAC as it looked the same as the Pandora. I also added a Grimm MU1. I was set for life, no more audio purchases necessary. Then the Ethos caught my attention. (If you own a lot of CD's, buy an Ethos!!!!!)

Now I am really done. No more gear ever. Heaven had been achieved. A smart person would have stopped there.
Ten days after the Commander and Apex were announced, I ordered both. That ten day wait put me out six months for them to arrive. But they did. They seem nice.

My only question is if I should wait for Mephisto replacement. I should think that will happen in the next year or so. Definitely waiting for Pandora replacement. Hopefully a one box Commander

The Pandora with the Mephisto are a beautiful match together. Granted I went with a Solution 727 and sold my Pandora but that combination provided great satisfaction. The Pandora is so underrated! My brain is like a pinball machine! I think upgrade to the Apex Stereo or Apex Monos, (sell the Mephisto) then I fire up my system and I'm so pleased with the SQ. I then have reservations and think just leave it alone! Hence my pinball reference...

The Pandora is very underrated! I don’t care so much for Mephisto. I’m very curious about their eventual replacements. They came out in 2011! I will probably just buy the Revelation and wait for Pandora replacement. I like the Commander but it’s two very large boxes.

The Mephisto is ruthlessly honest. It will let you know if something is amiss. Throw in the Solution 727, you better have things right or that could be a train wreck! When it's right and everything else is aligned its hard to beat. I know a few guys who have gone to Robert Koda and other highly regarded amplification and still talk fondly of the Mephisto. I don't care when it was made, in the right system its a difficult amp to beat...The Pandora is no spring chicken either...

Don't get me wrong. I've spent lots of time with Mephisto stereo and monos. I think they're great. I just personally prefer both Apex and Evo but that's just me. No right or wrong here. Just personal taste. I would take Mephistopheles over almost any other non Gryphon amp on earth. Robert Coda is such a different animal.

I said I would provide an update if I had a weak moment. Well I did! I upgraded from the Mephisto Stereo to Mephisto Solo Monoblocks. Apex was less money, I get it. I plugged in several variables. Very pleased with my decision. They arrived 2 weeks ago today. I really liked the voicing on the Stereo Version and I never had a bad thing to say about it. The Mono's do everything the Stereo version does but all the sonic attributes are just a little more elevated.

I sent the Stereo unit in for servicing and I am having it gone through from top to bottom. I would love to keep it but that's highly unlikely. If anyone is interested PM me. I told the service man no rush, just basically make it as close to new again as humanly possible...

Congratulations. Welcome to the Gryphon mono club.

For what it's worth, the Apex Stereo seems useful enough.

No doubt whatsoever the Apex is a fine unit. Over the years I have made painstaking "adjustments" to my system. From outlets, AC Power, cables, isolation, network, you name it and I have addressed it. This was all done around the Mephisto Stereo and as of late the Solution 727. The latter will undoubtedly let you know if something is amiss. I realize we are not dividing the atom here but I thought the safe bet was the Mephisto Solo's.

Interesting enough another member, @marty who is extremely knowledgeable and a lot of fun to speak with has similar components. We both have the Mephisto Solo's, Solution 727, Taiko Olympus, Horizon/360, and we prefer the same power cables. How this happened, I have no idea! We differ regarding metallurgy. I know several who have heard Marty's system and all have said remarkable. I also have had some people here who have heard my system and the Apex Stereo/Apex Mono's. One in particular was Chris Livengood who happens to be in NC. He does setups with Peter McGrath from Wilson. Great speaker setup guru! Having him close by is an ace in the hole. He had no skin in the game. The last time he was here he remarked on how well the tonality was in my system in which I knew was a strong attribute. Another check mark. The other aspect was Mono vs Stereo. I know all the crosstalk numbers by heart. Up to the Mephisto I never had a Stereo version. Always Mono's. Mono's are inherently quieter and that was another check mark which hasn't disappointed...

At this level its hard to go wrong! I thought this might be interesting and helpful as to how I came to my decision...Happy listening fellow's...

Great to finally see this in the public domain...congratulations again! That is great news and as someone who was proud to won Gryphon amps for over 12 years consecutively...Antileon, Colosseum and then Mephisto (all stereos), I know something of the tremendous sound you must have now. I have always heard (always) that the Gryphon Monos are shockingly good, particularly shocking when one considers that the incredibly powerful stereos are already dual mono inside...in some cases all the way mono to even having dual power inlets, 1 for each channel.

And I am also the one who has gone to Robert Koda Preamp and Monos, who still speaks incredibly highly of the Gryphon sound.

I also have heard remarkably good things (also from Marty but also from several others) about the 727...quite a combination you have!

I am really very happy with my Essence combo (what a 50 watt beast), but knowing myself... I pray every day that the first reviews say that the new Antileon Revelation is... disappointing, unmusical, strident... I don't trust it, but hope springs from the last straw.

Thank You! Picking your brain was also very helpful Lloyd. I find making decisions such as these a little easier breaking down the different options. This obsession can pull you in a number of directions. Adding 2 major pieces at the same time Olympus and Gryphon Mono's wasn't as big of an obstacle (for lack of a better word) as I thought. I didn't plan on this to happen, it just did! Pretty seamless integration. Distinguishing between what the Olympus is doing Vs the Mono's perhaps is a little difficult to digest. However it sounds so good I'm only thinking about the music...

You had multiple great options...it was hard to miss in any of your scenarios! That said, I do think your liking the Mephisto and then going Mephisto monos could well stand the test of time.

hi aangen, I am about to pull
The trigger on pretty much your setup
Grim MU1 to mola mola Tambaqui dac , Gryphon commander ,APEX stereo amp Kef blade one meta speakers with rel no 31 pair subs
Thing is I loved the Essence , Diablo 333 amps that I have auditioned but did not like the antellion Evo At all found it lacking a lot in the higher frequencies , loud but bland it wasn’t connected to a pre amp but was bieng driven by my Tambaqui dac at the time at my dealer
I have never been able to audition an APEX as there simply isint one available in my neck of the woods at this point
how do u rate your apex commander combination in terms of the overall sound especially the upper frequencies
Thanks
