I have been diligently working on ensuring I have backup sets of all tube sets I will be using and yesterday I received a back up to my KR KT88's, a matched quad set of NIB Genalex Gold Lion KT 88

My search is over for the present. I have been tempted to purchase an NOS WE 274B but with their prices as high as they are and never knowing when they might blow I am eternally happy with my Takatsuki 274B while we all wait to see if W will ramp up production of tubes once again

I'm quite confident after success and obviously good sales performance of new 300b that new WE tube in their portfolio will be 274b so maybe worthwhile to relax and wait for this one.

I’m sure you’re correct but honestly where I am now with the Tak 274B is blissful. I can wait for ( hopefully) current version of WE to be back in production

These are decent and nice price modern KT88 Russian replicas - I have about 50 in storage for the VTL Siegfried II's - it is my preferred accessible tube for them. Look at the now unobtainium originals from GEC/MOValve Co - UK!

The Tak 274B is the best rectifier I have owned. I swapped it out in my Pacific for a Tung Sol 5U4G and the life went out of the music.

The GECs are the cream of the KT88s. I have 2 quads - one for an amp and one for the Horizon.

I don’t know how much of a difference they will make in the horizon. They made a huge difference in the amp. Much different application though.

Per my logic its a pity to use those "gem" NOS pentode tubes (GEC, Siemens f2a, TS 6550,...) on that specific position in Horizon...but that's just me

I saw these GEC /MOV going as high as $2500 for a NIB matched quartet in eBay - surely a speculative price. But at some point they found a buyer!

I have listened to mine for few hours in a Jadis DA88. Really ahead of the competition, particularly in bass, sweetness and air . I have a lot of them, but do not feel comfortable using 24 in the VTL Siegfried II.

I also have some black anode GEC KT88's , but I am not sure if they can be used in ARC equipment power supplies.
