No, this is Ron thread on his listening of David system, my post was meant to be read considering their preferences and expressed opinions in WBF and my interests.

Nice. All we need now are horns that sound good with digital and tape.

I don't know about tape, but here are three horns that sound good with digital: ddk's Bionors, the Vitavox CN-191, and the JBL M9500. As did the non horn Mitsubishi Diatone. I heard a very natural digital sound there. It was not streaming but rather good old compact disks.

What was the digital source and DAC (or CD player)?

He heard more than one system and I move stuff around. I know Goldmund & Neodio players are generally there in two rooms I think he also heard CEC+Weiss or Meitner in a 3rd space.

Again and again, do not put ideas that I did not write in my posts. Forum posts must be read as part of an whole, connected to previous posts and in context, not isolated to start a fight. WBF members are senior enough to know it, I do not have the time for childish behavior.

Streaming was just one of the main points of my post - we both know David strong opinions on it. Do you think the same?

Fransisco, I was not aware that you qualified your request about horns. You simply said horns and digital. I gave you three examples of vintage horns and Bonzo gave you examples of other horns with digital.

You also wrote digital. You did not specify compact disc or streaming. If you’re going to disregard responses that don’t meet your unspecified criteria, you should be more specific when making a comment.

About 15-20 years ago i watched all the ebay auctions on the klangfilm electronics and if i can remeber there were a pair of bionor speakers that went for around 45,000.I wonder if these were the ones Dave bought

I moved away from this speaker to the Coax 10. The horn was very pretty on horns and violin. But a tad exaggerated where harpsichord became burried under the other instruments. The coax is much more linear. And it still has a horn tweeter.

i remember watching all those auctions . tks..Last time i was at CES all the rooms were playing Wings and Air by Nana Simopoulos[1986] and i came home with a Mapleknoll ariadne with 100 pound platter,

Just look up the JBL M9500. It is an extremely good sounding speaker. It was their flagship speaker at the time. What is special about it? It sounds natural when driven by the right gear.

You should have upgraded the compression driver. It is an ok one for the money but there are significantly better one from Beyma (where they got the one in the PAP). Do you know if the coax is Beyma? They are pretty good coax drivers.

Just had a look at the photo of the driver they use…it’s a Beyma. Dynamikks used to use this driver.

The picture @PeterA posted had nothing to do with any speaker he was showing Brad the Goldmund & Neodio CD players we were talking about.

These JBLs have nothing in common with any PAP speaker, AFAIK PAP wasn’t even around when the JBLs were made. As far as what makes them special, lots of things. Read about their design criteria and the white paper associated with their creation then you’ll have some knowledge about why they’re special. Then go hear them somewhere.
