I reckon you are onto something with that pairing. I also like the Emitter II - whacking great soundstage should be mind bending with the GG one - must be crazy. Mind you, you'll need a mahoosive rack for the Emitter and GG, lol.

It describes appropriately the Emitter II exclusive system, specially if you consider the massive industrial DC plugs, the three 6 feet long 3/4 inch thick and stiff umbilical's and the three also thick power cables.

Lol, Marty. That Emitter is a big old beast that is for sure. I think it might way 140kg including 3 separate power supplies in their own chassis.

Speaking of the strange slang words that essentially combine two concepts, we have a few for our children:

Tungry = tired and hungry
Tangry = tired and angry
Hangry = Hungry and angry

I call my baby boy the Tunk = tank and chunk.

I find it interesting (and also very ballsy - good decision) that Tidal used the GG rather than the dac module in their Preos, which I am sure is good.

It is curious that what was considered a marketing stumble years ago - a manufacturer having simultaneously a line of speakers and electronics, sometimes sharing the same brand name - is now becoming accepted. The choice of the Lampizator seems really bizarre in such system.

What sort of reviewer hasn't heard of the Lampi, and calls the analysis omega their top of the range? Also the analysis don't sound right with the Arion, which are class D amps with tubed input.

Do the following changes to your Lampi - get it upgraded to R2R - think that should cost 750ish...get the KR 274b for recti, your current one should sell around 120, and get a nice pair of 300b valves. Elrog and Takatsuki are considered the best but expensive, and I haven't heard those, the KR audio 300b around 600 quid are also good. If you send it back for R2R also get Bill's transformer specs which will quieten it down and adapt voltage for KR 242.

But before all that add the wtfplayer to your PC and try it out. It's free and easy to download and try. I haven't tried it but sligolad swears by it

Yeah - I know it was a curve ball but you know I can see why it worked so well. I would imagine that the Tidal system would have been very revealing of upstream components based on previous listening and thus giving a very pure and open window to let the GG show its beauty. I do like that way of system building myself - I use an Analog Domain m75 driving Focal Maestros with the GG front end. Anyway - it was strange given that they also make a dac in their pre so you might automatically assume they would go Tidal all the way - either way it seemed to work for the reviewer.

I will have to chat with Greg at Gpoint audio he supplied the Lampi GG and the Thoress phono stage, he has been very helpful.
I hope to see him at the NW audio event at the end of June.

Hi, was just listening for a bit at Audiophile Bill's place. We tried the KR45s (which put me to sleep), the WE 101D replicas, and the KR balloon 300bs. We also tried the KR 274b and the 5u4g recti. We also had a Tara Cobalt, a Siltech Ruby double crown lent by a friend (it retails at 18k), and an excellent specially customized Sablon power cord. We also had Tellerium Q's second from the top speaker cable, to compare with the audience 24se.

Trust me, and think Bill will confirm when he comes online, these things made minimal difference. What made the difference was when we put my KR 242 in. Bam. End game. We did a lot of dems on Danse Macabre, and each note had a super grip with the 242s. The attack on each note, the pause, the time intervals, the dynamics swings, were all incredibly enhanced without having to listen for it. The dynamics and bass were superb, with extra cleanliness and resolution, the details in the bass just stood out. Soundstage, immersiveness, throw any term from that audiophile dictionary recently posted, and it was in multiples. The ease of the swing from low to high itself made it musical.

We also heard his Kuzma TT and Triplanar and Lyra Kleos. But over there fluidity in violin aside, the 242 stood out.

This is probably the strongest recommendation I will make since I have been posting about the Lampi. If you have a big 7, forget sending it for a GG upgrade. If you have a GG, forget about the 512 upgrade. First get yourself a 242 pair. If you have the GG, send it back to get it tweaked for a 242. Since Bill replaced his AR Ref 3 and Krell 750 fpbs with the Analog Domain integrated, his gain changed to allow the 242 to play, but we were still getting some distortion on some tracks, while Danse Macabre for whatever reason was playing fine.

10 times out of 10, a Lampi with 242 on PCM will beat a Lampi with other valves on DSD256. Haven't compared the PX25, Elrog or Tak 300b yet, but find it difficult to foresee a bigger jump. But hope that answers your query about 512. You can get it, but doubt that will be the differentiating factor.
