H J s system !

sorry for saying this, I would never think of using a diamond tweeter or ceramic driver, I find them horrible. I'm old school.
Maybe, but if a speaker sounds so good on a video recorded on a cell phone, I don't have to be a genius to know that it sounds much better in real life. I'm excited to see if the kit comes out, I'd love to have it. Definitely more than some high-priced junk where the drivers cost 1/20 of what the speakers cost.

When i started Ls building i copied the big guys a bit like avalon / kharma and used the units they did at the time .
Off course in my own housing design /X over design.

The diamond tw was the only one i blew while playing loud .

Now i do things exactly my way and luckily the units i consider best are not that expensive.
With my latest models i cut cost where ever i can , when a 400 euro cap doesnt bring anyting more then a 20 euro one its out of the door .
To keep a high standard i use high quality non resonant housings and Ls units of high quality plus solid copper rhodium plated Cardas terminals

Fyi i always learn the hard way lol.
Nothing beats expirience.

Next year i will put the 2 models up for review .
I hope i have the subs ready in about 5 -6 months

I ve listened to countless some times very expensive Ls with diamond high freq / mid units.
I usually have already enough after 5 minutes .
Kharma and Tidal being somewhat exeptions.

I probably listened to that elipticor dome as well in the 3 years at munchen in some design

Build it and listen to it and be amazed. It plays so loudly and well until the blood comes out of your ears...promise

Not loud , percussive energy , they have limited dynamics (excursion and area) and suffer from dynamic compression due to back chamber loading..!

I have built quite a few back when we had to , in a series to match Bag end subs for studios, even used them in monitors for Movie Theatre easy to meet THX specs for high frequency roll out..

Prefer to use a 4”,5” or 6.5” mid cone driver

Aside i’m aware of excellent sonics from them in certain situations..

Listening like that tells you nothing , buy one of each and test them , by measuring and voicing you learn everything ..

Never heard that in this way equal Yamaha ns 5000, ATC speaker or my favorite oldie diatone ds 3000* all use mid dome without dynamic compression..

Arrived , the latest version of Etons 11 and 12 inch hexacone woofers.
The best woofers on the market imo.
For my 3 way design and standalone passive sub.

2 ready With ScanSpeak elipticor mid , i expect excellent transient response from.this unit
With experimental filter , this is always the funpart how will it work out ....?
Sounds very promising , the 11 inch Eton woofer has very fast / clean bass extension.as expected
Side firing woofers are nice , they sound more sublte not so in your face

Weekend .....measurement gear out.
Filter adjustments.
Now this is what i wanted to see after some changes i made.today
Plus minus 1.5 db over most of the range.
No anomalies visible in the important X over area .
Extremely flat/ neutral in the midrange this ellipticor midrange , it has a foam surround

New model in white Natural HPL.

i also have 2 new SUB models under construction , 4 passive subs .

Should be all ready before summer .
Then all models will be reviewed by one of the leading dutch magazines .
2025 is the year

My cone LS design experimentation journey has basically come to an end then .
I have made all i wanted to make , both with passive parallel and now series X over .

now series X over
I appreciate that you use series X overs. IMO, much superior to parallel x overs.
I am wondering why only very few manufacturers use these X overs.
It is a great pity

I have no idea who is using which / what .
Most don t disclose much .

I have heard rumours Kharma is using them , thats all.

For me its also a cost cutting issue , i can save on expensive capacitators with these schematics.
Money that can be spend elsewhere in the design , my goal/ challenge is to make the biggest bang for Buck with my latest products.
A product that can compete with products 3 - 5 times the price

AFAIK, Kharma don't use series crossovers but Evolution Acoustics do:
All speakers with multi-wiring terminals use parallel crossovers.
There are some small manufacturers using series crossovers like the swedish Klangedang Audio:

Playing with experimental filter set up .
Its basically the same model with a different midrange .
This is a sliced paper mid from scanspeak incl foam surround , very flat FR .
Much less pricy then the elipticor mid
