Magico Ultimate 3

Are those the 18" Qsubs? I wonder how they will sound with all of that glass on the front wall. Munich usually has a lot of analog. What will the source for this system be?
15"
maybe they are trying to break the glass wall ;)
digital source: Conbrio server+ Pacific microsonics model 2 most probably

Interesting that most who have tried the Bybee's in this experiment have concluded treble softening and alike.

Do the big Wilson's really need help like this?

No, unless you're running an all solid state front end and amps on the focal tweeter models.

I have to say for me this is one of the most beautiful horn speaker designs around.
Appreciate though opinions will split between love/hate for this design.

Cheers
Orb

Thanks wizard pics are really nice. I wonder how will they sound since I will not be able to visit Munich this year :(

$600K. Perhaps there are better values out there ? Never mind you need 5 pairs of monoblocks

In Europe with our vat taxes it will be 600 k euro. Only I am shocked ?
I find it inappropriate , hifi gear cannot cost that much. It is only for pleasant music reproduction.

All these photos show the Ultimate with First Watt amplifiers. If Magico intends to demonstrate their flagship with these relatively inexpensive , no bragging rights products, it shows IMO an enormous level of maturity as a company ,as well as a deep understanding of how to get the best results from very high efficiency transducers.

Maybe after laying out $600k, that's all they can afford!!

Yes, you don't need an expensive set of amps for the Ultimate to sound well. On 115-120dB efficient speakers, you need an amp which is virtually silent, with a low gain. 99% of the amp of the market are way too noisy (we tried, don't ask me to give names...)... the First Watt amp used in Munich have an unitary gain and are among the most silent amps on the market (with the Siltech P1, which is also unitary gain, and a few other custom designs I am still investigating).

Interesting,
please keep us all informed how the investigation goes.
Thanks

Hi Shane,

Are you saying you feel that other Wilson owners like what Bybee does to their Wilsons? Curious since I have heard good things about Bybee products. What specifically are you referring to...their speaker bullets I presume?

Hi Lloyd I am not referring to any Wilson owners evidence , just a question to Rockitman who is using them

If the bybees have a universal softening of treble, from user tests in the SNA link, I can't see how they improve the system unless it is bright.

Got it. Thanks. I was curious, but based on this feedback, perhaps not for me.

Lloyd, I believe the Sablon GGC power cords use Bybee modules. Mark uses them, and there is a definite difference in SQ wrt to the standard GC cords, to my mind, superior.

Are you saying Magico will use the F4 First Watt in the Ultimates? Nelson Pass should be proud of it!

It also looks like the smaller box could be the First Watt B4 crossover. It will be nice when the complete loyout of the electronics is explained in the press. I expected the DEQX and some Solution amplifiers but this is completely new stuff. Just one more day.
