New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

First Blood, Philly will not pay Simmons $8.25m. The war between team and player rages. Who is advising Ben to lose all these money that lots of people cannot make in a year.

You are on a roll this morning, Steve. :)
well how about this...Lakers have found a new term to describe themselves....

Lakers say they’re building a vintage championship contender

LeBron is confident in his supporting cast of accomplished NBA veterans as they look to prove age is not yet a hindrance to their incredible talent.

To me vintage refers to old wines and audiophile components not a bunch of over the hill players who all need GPS in their cars to remind them how to get to Staples Center

Windhorst calls 76ers not paying Ben Simmons a 'declaration of war'

Phil

That is more money than all the people living in a city block won't ever make collectively in a lifetime

Simmons has 4 years left in his contract

Could the guy be "Rich Paul" who makes more money off these players annually than any other agent in the NBA

So who is going to predict the outcome of tomorrow’s Nets vs Lakers.
will the Lakers prove their mettle or will it be a rude awakening as to the rest of the schedule.
Im mixed. I think it will be a good game if both teams play their starters but to me a healthy Nets team will prove to be THE team to beat in this years season

Well, Steve, the Nets or another Finals contender should be able to cross the finish line in one piece, physically, and mentally. Simmons just opened the latter category. I think his trainer needs to show him the replay of Game 6 of Magic Johnson's heroics in the '80 Finals, maybe for 60 days straight. :D

And now the playoffs will present a new spectre, that of a 'star' player lying down on the floor after a bump, a step on a foot or an awkward fall, grimacing in pain. One second only is needed for this ghastly thing to ruin a solid 82-game season. It has just about happened in all the playoffs or Finals in the past 6 years. Staying healthy in games is not about doing it by yourself, you gotta hope that some 'defender' does not bring you down inadvertently in 1 second, or it's all over.

I'm stoked. The first game to start the preseason will be televised today and what better way to air it all out and have the Lakers at home at Staples hosting the healthy and dominant Nets
This will be an early "put up or shut up " for both teams but mainly for Team Methuselah

of all the acquisitions the Lakers got, the one which I hope has the most potential is DeAndre Jordan as he not only can guard the rim but can score. He and Dwight IMO are much better than Marc Gasol and another Clippers castoff (who is gone this year)

Lakers have only 3 returning players from last year's roster

I am going to give them the nickname of ........

"The Over The Hill Gang" although my runner up is "The Dirty Dozen"

Six potential Hall of Famers

I'll be rooting for D'Andre to have a good season as well....unless the Lakers are playing the Clippers.

Hope Montrzl learned his lesson - both LA teams dumped him when he's proven he can play. Something wrong with his perspective on the game and team interpersonal dynamics. He lost me when he sat out a month during the Bubble playoffs.

well at the half

57-49 Nets lead

Both sides look rusty and AD was the only starter to play and he was out for the duration midway through the 1st period

Both Dwight and D'Andre were effective under the rim but neither can score

The Lakers starters are all sitting out and not even dressed

One thing for sure that I see as a positive...the Lakers bench is half decent and most are young

Good to see that the only other returnee from last year was Horton_Tucker. I believe he will be a super star some day

The big names all sat down. Fear of injury? It's too early. :)

Yeh but when you’re old you want to limit your minutes because injuries happen so much easier and heal so much slower

Dwight Howard was the star of the game for the Lakers....6 fouls in 13 minutes plus a technical.

It is preseason :)
But the irony was that he shot a free throw after he fouled out. Go figure

Celtics trailed most of the game against the Magic and won by 1 at the end thanks to some 3 point shooters they have. Tatum and Brown played a lot of minutes but I failed to see the 'tremendous' poster biceps of Tatum in the game. He looked the same despite claims that he got taller even. :D He had a monster dunk so if anything, his leaping ability did improve. :)

Some very good games last night as the Celtics and the Clippers each eek out a narrow win whilst the Warriors also win and the Suns lose

Most teams going with their younger players as only a few veterans are playing. Having said that there are some new and young players in the league that are pretty darn good

Yes, Clippers didn't put too many starters on the floor last night and Denver played Michael Porter for big minutes but Jokic sat out.

Have to give the Clippers some credit for maneuvering cleverly to get some younger players on the roster after giving up so many draft picks in the Paul George trade. Hoping some of these rookies can contribute this year and add a little depth.
