I'm perfectly willing to consider that this whole effort is a solution in search of a problem.

That's quite possible.

Maybe we don't need, at this time anyway, any AI Term of Service at all.

Well, I guess you do need special Al (M.) Terms of Service ;).

(My name still keeps coming up all the time, creepy ;))

take a look at this copy I wrote myself, this morning. It shows a 100% probability of being AI generated, depending on which AI detection tool is used. Except one problem, I wrote it myself.
I understand you wrote it yourself originally. But didn't you run your original writing through AI for spelling, grammar and polishing?

I run spelling and grammar check on everything. I also don’t use a typewriter anymore. That’s not the same thing as inputting parameters, and then asking AI to punch out boiler plate. It’s a spellcheck and grammar check.

The above was written by me, talking to my phone. Unedited not grammar or spellcheck. Now this is how I would normally proceed after verbal dictation and doing a grammar and spellcheck…

Somehow whatever back-end AI checking you are doing makes the text sound too perfect and kind of fake and annoying to read.

Hobbyists (including me) don't want to read robot-sounding text. It's as simple as that.

In Post #41 of this thread I shared this consideration as well, by stating "Seems to me this is a unrealistic solution in search of an inevitably uncontrollable problem." The statement evidently didn't get much traction at the time. Having continued to follow this thread through an additional 300+ posts, my conviction of the futility of this pursuit has only strengthened

:) lol .
Has anyone asked an AI Bot hat he thinks of the issue , because our simple human brains cant get an answer .

As AI gets better it might actually be a blessing and lift the forum level in knowledge , it seems indeed futile to resist it

The question is the accuracy of AI detectors. If the membership doesn't have confidence in the detector selected, then the Term of Service is doomed to false accusations and contentiousness.

From the little testing I've done that Monica, which is a composite of multiple AI detectors, seems pretty good.
if the detector doesn't work (yet), then what is the point?

Maybe his personality is part of the problem ? ;)

The detector itself is probably AI also lol
exactly. This is all too late. AI already runs the show and is screwing with humanity. That is obvious. OK, I have to go into hiding now. AI is based upon a narcissistic programmer and very vindictive.

The Synergistic Research Ethernet Switch Mk II represents a quantum leap in network audio technology, incorporating advanced innovations first developed for our flagship Voodoo server and $65,000 PowerCell SRX line conditioner. This new switch builds upon the success of our first-generation UEF Ethernet Switch, dramatically improving every aspect of its performance.

At the heart of the Mk II are our next-generation Electromagnetic Cells (EM Cells), the first reengineering of their technology since we sought our original patent. Initially developed for our PowerCell SRX to address both power and signal clarity in the digital domain, they selectively filter high-frequency noise from incoming AC power and the digital signal path, eliminating electromagnetic interference (EMI) and switching noise that can degrade audio quality. This results in a significantly lower noise floor compared to our original UEF Ethernet Switch.

A critical advancement in the Mk II is introducing our ULF (Ultra Low Frequency) Biasing system, a feature absent in the first-generation model. This groundbreaking technology replaces high-frequency noise with harmonics of the Earth's Schumann Resonance, which pass through the EM Cells unaltered. Unlike our previous switch, which focused solely on first order noise reduction, the Mk II enhances system musicality through this ULF Biasing.

The Mk II also incorporates our latest linear power supply (LPS) technology, refined during the development of the Voodoo server. This advanced LPS optimizes the DC bias for the EM Cells and the switch itself, unlocking performance levels unattainable from the first-gen UEF Switch. The result is cleaner power delivery and more stable, jitter-free data transmission, even under peak network loads.

We've built upon a new, higher-performance Ethernet switch base, outperforming our previous generation before applying our proprietary technologies. Combined with our improved EM Cells, advanced LPS, and ULF Biasing, the Mk II achieves unprecedented levels of digital signal purity, far surpassing its predecessor.

Audibly, these advancements translate to a noticeably expanded soundstage, enhanced resolution, and improved tonal accuracy across the frequency spectrum compared to the original UEF Ethernet Switch. Bass notes gain authority and articulation, while treble extends with airy precision, unveiling musical details that were previously obscured.

The Synergistic Research Ethernet Switch Mk II represents a significant leap forward in digital audio reproduction. It offers discerning audiophiles a level of performance that eclipses our previous offering and sets a new standard for networked audio.
F’n genius.
But I refused to read it!

Saw a discussion elsewhere in which someone ran a 2008 Wall Street Journal article through an AI detector and it came back as "very likely" written by AI. Who knew that damn AI technology has been around so long LOL?

I can only imagine the number and magnitude of headaches that Admins and Mods will incur by dealing with members whose posts get incorrectly tagged by an AI detector, and subsequently 'file appeals' or argue against any Terms of Service/Use rule used against them and their posts.

You'd have to really hate Admins and Moderators to put them through that hell

In the end you will need so many Mods and administrators that cost will go up substantialy .
In due time it will then need a DOGE intervention and AI will be subsequently used anyway

Well, I think this forum is changing its route. While sometime ago it was driven by audiophile talk and debates on audio, with a nice participation of manufacturers and dealers, its policies now need to be traced focusing on the behaviour of a single manufacturer who is very prolific generating AI assisted long texts that can't be intrinsically debated - they are just filled balloons to get our attention with the objective of making us want to listen to his products - in this aspect similar to the marketing of other companies of competitive products.

IMO, Steve and Ron must take a decision. They know what some active members in this forum think, it is now their forum, their responsibility.
