I did lots of compares at that time and got a strong feeling for the differences
Wadax much better today than then after optimizing. MSB and Extreme better too assuming all opportunities for upgrade are used.
So one can make a case it would be a new compare. OTOH the fundamental head to head differences would still exist in my opinion.
Wadax fixes nasties with digital, plus the Akasa optical interface is a game changer. And the cohesive approach of Wadax dac and server combined with the other advantages are a bridge too far.
Just one guy’s opinion. YMMV
I have to say that Mikey has himself some magic ears.He sat in my room at a show with at best a mediocre room for perhaps 10 minutes ( bet he can't even tell you what he heard musically), with brand new amps and preamp, a brand new power supply for the Wadax, with speakers and electronics he does not like nor own and MAGICALLY he can hear the Wadax and the Wadax alone and HE Knows what it sounds like and they are adding things.
I think Mike is wasting his time in audio he should be curing Cancer, wiping out world hunger, writing new symphonic masterpieces(this is particularly amusing), starting for the Atlanta Falcons at QB, winning the Indy 500 and whatever else he wants to grace us with in his spare time.
I am sorry but anybody that believes this hokem is going to end up with what they deserve a hot steaming pile of Sh-T.

Any one who wants to hear a Wadax or anything else get off you butt and do it. It is not possible to experience these things from an iphone video or from someone with an agenda second hand. Period
The real fact here is after he ranted and raved about how great ONLY his stuff is someone actually took him up on his challenge. I am very curious to see what happens when he goes to Mike Mountain if he has the courage to actually go through with his bluster.

Elliot, WBF is better than what exactly? Here we have two influencers, one on a website, the other on YouTube. They meet here and decide to get together and to compare their respective DACs in a much discussed system. This all sounds like fun, and they may both learn something. What is not to like. The best thing about WBF now is the chance to meet a few others who share your interests.
OY Vey you take the cake. I personally don’t care what they do but the downright absurd comments i take umbrage with.
I would LOVE to hear any of those brands impress me.. Honestly... Because they represent the industry to people that dont know us due to their strong marketing. Again, it could be personal preference between "wow" factor and actual musical engagement. Wilson and Magico certainly win high marks in the visually stunning category... I just feel the unsuspecting buyers are being taken for a ride as far as what is great sound... Its not totally subjective IMHO... only slightly... Most of us end up in the same camp of what sounds great..

I have ACCEPTED Mike Lavignes gracious invitation, and I do this in the spirit of discovery and comradery. I look forward to meeting Mike and have nothing to prove... Im simply curious as to how the Playback Designs MPD-8 at $24K (including the game changing optical connection to the matching $12K Streamer) fares against the WADAX... AFAIK Mike was one of the first owners of a 5 series Playback Product, which was before the breakthrough 8 series I sell. So he knows this brand, as well as Andreas, I believe.

It looks like another member alluded that there was DSP going on and that would not surprise me.. Did it sound great ? YES !! My ass sat in that chair watching the broken VU meter ARC Amp while I enjoyed the tunes... Your other rooms at other shows drove me out, this room did not.. So great Job man !! I suspect Playback Designs MPD-8 will be smack dab between MSB and WADAX. Im really looking forward to exploring this at Mikes place.. Thanks again, Mike...

If you are ever in ATL, I invite you over to judge for yourself if I know my ass from a hole in the ground in regards to system setup and tuning. LOL, Id love to have you...

how else would you show people brand new product. Also when you ship old product it’s still unplugged, packed , shipped, stored in a warehouse, retrucked, pallet jacked , handtrucked to your room
I do not report posts to the monitors because they reveal the character of the poster. They are there for everyone to see and pass judgment. Once reported and removed, the guy who behaved badly gets a get out of jail free card.

Marty, Is it possible a Dealer only sells what he thinks is best in the marketplace ? So you got it backwards. The only reason I sell a brand and model is because I love it and use it myself... Otherwise Id sell turntables and preamps wouldn't I ?? Everyone LOVES turntables, but I dont... so I cut my income in order to be true to my beliefs... My point is just because someone sells something does not make them dishonest. Also, everyone is a salesperson... even the preacher is selling religion..
