Social Media and High End Audio

No, and i never will ! Pricing is still ridiculously ! Unless i become 20 years younger by listening to them, the prices are silly ! ;)

Yes the prices are silly for me or you - everything is relative to our wealth and expenditure. But for a few fortunate enough to afford them the price is fair, considering the gap in performance between them and the $200k speakers. I was very skeptical until I listened to the WAMM, the experience showed me I was living in ignorance in such matters, and the people I had read were not hyperbolic creatures. In fact I understood that I am loosing part of what is really encoded in the recording.

In fact, considering your frequent comments i think your listening is very good. However I should note that David Wilson addressed the separation between high frequency hearing and music timing in high quality stereo reproduction - even people with poor hearing can hear it. In fact, many high end designers create their master pieces at an age they have high frequency hearing limitations.

when I listen to live music I never think “high frequency extension“. When I listen to some modern systems my attention is drawn to high frequency extension.

I learn everything I need to know about the current high-end by watching Jay’s audio lab on YouTube. He’s got the latest and greatest. And he keeps it real.

Please hit that like button folks !!:D

I watched a couple of his vids with the XVX s ,it reminded me of what i heard in munich .
Kind of a metallic sterile timing disconnect issue in the reproduction.

I have watched a few of his videos of the Axpona show. It basically all sounds the same to me (what else could be expected from poor recordings in a noisy demo?). His comments are not terribly interesting ("Guys, I'm blown away...").

He has about 17.5 thousand followers on his YouTube channel, and his videos get between 1 and 20 thousand views each.

Steve Gutenberg and John Darko have roughly 10 times the number of subscribers and audience.

I don't think Mikey is that far off in the video. I would like to be at Mikes to hear the Plaback and Wadax. I heard the MSB. It was clear the divergence between the 2.

that would be great have him buy one and do the demo . Ill be happy to sell him one and even deliver and set it up in his "rig"

Elliot, first of all, when are you coming over with the Wadax combo?

Second of all, why don’t you ask Javier what DSP emulation is taking place in the Wadax and let us know.

Third, when is Stereophile getting a Wadax combo sample to review? What is there to be afraid of? We would all like to see and will benefit from what John Atkinson’s measurements uncover.

Could you briefly explain what you heard regarding the differences?
