Ed suggested a clear and rescan. I have enough music to keep me busy—Frank Sinatra is IN MY ROOM. I’ll read the documentation and keep working on it and post my findings. Oh, and I now know what “not gapless “ means. Not a huge issue, but I hadn’t experienced it with Aurender or Roon.
Montreux Jazz Festival (20km away) is a lovely event too, interestingly they pioneered in high quality digital recordings of all the big events since the early eighties, a bold and visionary move.
My experience with TAS and Roon:
I was comparing 3 fundamentally quite different DACs and used Roon for convenience. When I switched back to TAS, I quickly realised that the difference between TAS and Roon was bigger than the difference between the three DACs.
...the search, IMO, is the worst feature in the TAS software (not written by Taiko, BTW). I had/have the same issue: things that used to be found via multiple search criteria seem to be MIA. They are there, but don't turn up in searches. Meta tags? Perhaps, but working as intended previously (Conductor app). XDMS, I have the red carpet out for you...
LMS in Daphile can cope with accents like the é etc, I just checked and searching on Qobuz works or the Scandinavian too.
Moot point since XDMs will get you that and more.
The only example I can remember is that TAS would not display an album which had Eastern European characters in the folder name. In the specific example, I believe I had the name "Jakub Hr?ša" in the folder name. I was looking for it in the view: My Music > Music Folder, and could not find it. I eventually was able to fix it by renaming the folder with "Jakub Hrusa" after which it became visible.
From what I can tell, there don't seem to be any issues with non-English characters in the filenames or tags. I have not really dug into this further. For example, would the album with the missing folder name have still been in the Albums view? I don't know - I didn't check.
Frankly, since LMS relies solely on file tags, and I have so many versions of the same albums, I have reverted to navigating TAS in the most old-school way possible: by folder layout. Interestingly, I find this rather satisfying, as I am in complete control.

I agree there's something very satisfying to browsing your music using the physical folder structure. At Taiko, we are aware that this is an important feature for many which is why it is high on the priority list for inclusion in XDMS. This functionality will be in addition to file tag browsing so the user can always decide which method to use. At this point, this functionality is still under development meaning that it may be included from the first release, or maybe it is for a later release.

This is mildly amusing to me. I spent a lot of time setting up my folder/file structure when I started to rip all my CD’s and was a little frustrated when Roon didn’t allow browsing that way. I asked them whether they would build it in a future release and got short shrift that their way was the best way. Since running Roon for so long now, I haven’t bothered keeping my filing of subsequently purchased material well organised, so I’ll have some work to do once XDMS is released to bring it all up to date.
I understand the excitement for XDMS and look forward to seeing and hearing it myself, but I bought the Extreme because it is a dedicated Roon core and this will remain very important to me. One of the great advantages of Roon is that it allows the use of a variety of devices from different manufacturers and that was actually the biggest initial sales point for Roon to me, not least because my wife simply would not accept having to use a different app for different devices in different rooms, so I needed to simplify things for her. Having done so with Roon, being able to control everything from one single app is a massive plus point that I most definitely would not want to lose.
On that point, a very unexpected bonus that I found with the Extreme is that the sound quality can be heard through all my Roon connected devices - these are generally Ethernet outside of the main system, but even Airplay connected devices are sounding better. We have a Naim Mu-so in the dining room connected by Airplay and my wife remarked recently how much ‘clearer’ it was sounding. She then asked ‘Have you done something to it’?
For me however I too am one of those guys who searches and plays everything I own using My Music----> My Folders. I use the above Qobuz and Tidal search functions to look for something I don't own
