Zero Distortion: Tango Time

dramatically less likely to hurt yourself from properly installed ceiling mounted amps into concrete hanging above the bass horns, verses hurting yourself tripping over 4 large heavy amps sitting on the floor during naked air guitar.
That's some mental image, 4 heavy tube amps swinging and twisting while Tang tries to manipulate the ropes, or do we get 4 winches too!

Ok, that was a mental image i could have lived without ! A naked Tang playing air guitar, with his corona mask on

Tang only plays air-violin these days, Zerostargeneral has ruined him !

Let’s say you have a suspended weight of 1.000 kg over 3 turn blocks you have 125kg then you’ll have mass in abundance and maneuverable weight

That would be the Tang video i would not miss, i’m starting the popcorn machine in anticipation :D

I just had this wonderful mental image David  Thank you ! Ron can’t ban you for mental images, can he ?

That is the difference between language and photographs. Language can only conjure up mental images but when well crafted can convey meaning covering the full spectrum of emotion and imagination.

Those amps weigh more than Tang, he will end up being suspended under the ceiling

It all depends if he would still need the SRA amplifier platforms. If they were suspended he might be able to ditch the platforms. What material are the suspension cables made from? What is there a stretch rate? All sorts of new areas for audiophiles to work themselves up over. Perhaps the most important one is what kind of a knot Is used. LOL.

Essential in the world of sailing.

Leif is the future you. He sails and owns a boat, and has SETs and horns. You are half way there

Ha! I usually do Starboard Entry Tacks and I have two horns onboard for safety. The sun wind and water combine for a very natural experience. Lots of tweaking of the set up is required to optimize performance.

if we are now addressing the method of ceiling attachment, first you measure ceiling movement (Emile has tools to do this), to determine whether decoupling is important, or not. likely not for most commercial buildings. that ceiling is not resonating. so any sort of decoupling would not be necessary.

braided stainless cables (100 pound amps would be trivial loads--no stretch)) would make it easy to level with a turnbuckle and would present a minimal visual intrusion, but might sway. hard braces might be better. and you would need a box structure which would be stable. and it could have a bottom allowing those 5 feet on the amp bottoms to fit into spots to keep it stable. i'm no engineer, but making it stable should not be too much of a challenge, as long as it's plumb and the weight is properly centered. build 4 boxes, and appropriate ceiling attachments.

good to go.

Maybe the Kuro guy can convert those long interconnects into long speaker cables at minimal cost. Then the amps could be moved into the cubby around the corner with the rest of the gear?

Egos. The engineers of today... FEW care for any subjectivity.

I had an interesting point of view on this saying it has a lot to do with protools
everything gets gridded up, and normalised on the grids, this destroys ebb and flow of great music tempi and nuanced pitch changes can be altered also

you end up ruining the musicality in terms of computerised perfection

this is B?ch‘s title page of the six accompanied violin partitas
some believe the title is not Italian but German “ being alone “ as they were written after his wife’s death
the double stops ie two strings played at once some claim is supposed to represent his dead wife playing with him
listen to the “ciaccona“ of BMW 1004 and it to me makes perfect sense and can bring you to tears
d minor is the saddest of all keys, some say the bariolage against the dissonance of e flat is like a woman crying out .....

I don’t know details of that but albums done with Protools tend to have a sound some can identify readily.

We need subjective people that can understand the processes doing the work. They are the type that became legends of mastering. But more than ever we have issues with even them becoming subject to the “better is better” mantra that is counter to what we hear often.

And to note I don’t understand why you guys are running with really complicated ideas for the amps. I see plenty of room for a wide shelf for them to be on that has legs that go down on each side of the bass cabs between them and speakers. You could have the shelf be stainless, with heavy legs holding it up.
