Echo: I use Ethernet from Statement into network Bridge, then dual aes to Dac.
Does new app require usb to interface with Dac?

I believe the player is still Squeeze - and this can output only via USB.

Have I misunderstood that iPeng will no longer work when InnuOS 2.0 is installed? I have been using InnuOS 2.0 since its release and was just about to delete iPeng from my iPad when I thought to try it just to confirm it no longer worked. I was surprised to find that it still controlled music playing from my Statement just as it did before the download.
Hi there,
Yes iPeng still works once InnuOS 2.0 is installed but if you want the best SQ from 2.02 you need to make sure that iPeng is switched off, otherwise iPeng’s ‘Pull’ UI technology will continue constantly polling over the network, sometimes at rates of multiple polls per second, causing unnecessary network and CPU activity and interrupts.

Hi @Echos,

From your comments in Post #410, can you verify whether your previous "software user" baseline before going to InnuOS v2.x.x was either:

a. v1.4.9 + Roon
b. v1.4.9 + iPeng

I am currently a v1.4.9 + iPeng user, and wanted to get fuller context on your Sonic SQ uplift observations. Thank you!

Re-tread
I used the browser really - so ip address:9000
So this is just Logitech MS and instead using ipeng i would just use the browser- so no roon, no upnp.
In terms of my sonic feelings, i would say i had quite enjoyed 1.4.9 - the only reason i went to 2 was curiousity.
If you are enjoying the sound of 1.4.9 i would say dont change anything.

i can try, but these are very early days and so i need to listen more.

From a software pov:
1. For me personally its not a game changer - slicker ui et all but the previous experience worked fine for me as well
2. Yeah i suppose with qobuz playlists things are better and you can save stuff.

Sonically:
1. I feel compared to 1.4.9 the noise floor is lower - so this might mean more laid back, less edgy on the high frequencies
2. bass is better - fuller, tighter
3. clarity / resolution is slightly clearer

The diff in my opinion is slight but cumulatively can be felt. I think the fuse will make a bigger diff sonically.
Hi,

I tend to agree, there are improvements which is like a free upgrade which is always welcome. I recently had Sean Jacobs make me new umbilicals using Mundorf silver-gold alloy cable, now they make a big improvement!

I am interested as to which fuse make/size you are thinking of getting?

thanks

Very similar to my impressions. Lower noise floor, more clarity, resolution and more relaxed presentation than 1.4.9. Still getting used to the software; maybe not as slick as Roon but I could never go back to listening to Roon even in Experimental Mode. I didn't realize how Roon was smearing the sound until I went to 1.4.9.

As a Zenith mk3 owner, I was able to get my feet wet with the new InnuOS app this afternoon (v2.0.3).

I was a v1.4.9 + iPeng user, and going to the latest v2.0.3, I have the following SQ uplift notes:

“The SQ uplift is very apparent even on the first track: Quieter, better blackness around decays, more even/balanced, less peaks, more ease, better timing, body is more solid, better bass, treble is better (more delicate) and quieter (<--- if that makes any sense...), more natural, just plain “realer”. Better soundscape balance. A large and appreciable improvement in my system/room. EXCELLENT value add. My first aural impressions after a few songs are very positive!”

Incidentally, the new UX with InnuOS v2.0.x is very elegant on first impression, and is a huge step up from my previous iPeng experience that I used previously with InnuOS v1.4.9. I am still learning my way around the newest version, and getting my playlists set up, etc.

As they say, YMMV.

Greetings AMR,

As I try to provide my initial observations when trying the new InnuOS v2.0.3, I wanted to be clear on the software I was using just previously before switching over to v2.0.3 so folks know where I am coming from and what I am actually comparing.

Thus, I was using the combination of iPeng + InnuOS v1.4.9 just before going to the all inclusive InnuOS v2.0.3, which completely eliminates the need to use iPeng, as iPeng was not very comprehensive or intuitive for interfacing with my music library (on Qobuz and/or local files) on my Innuos Zenith mk3 server/streamer.

I hope that helps with your question.

Have any Statement owners succeeded in installing InnuOS 2.0.4? I just get a static screen with what I assume is a download logo, and nothing else happens. I have to switch off and on again to set everything back to 2.0.2.

Well now I know that I won’t be trying ‘til I hear ist fixed, which wont take long, as long as Innuos are informed about it. Just give them a call or an email with a title like Statement 2.2.4 loading problem. This has happened to me with one of the earlier Beta revisions and it was fixed liketty-split (quickly). Was a very quick and simple resolution….a minor typo in my case.

Innuos support have come back to me. They have identified an issue with the update and the advice is not to update until they bring out a fix. Powering down and switching on again returns things to the normal 2.0.2 state.

Hello the community,

I am very satisfied with the sound rendering of my system, for which I no longer plan to change the device or the cable. I remind you that I introduced myself and my system here : https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/in-the-rhodium-living-room.31258/#post-671052

I would like to go in the direction of an even more immersive music by various optimizations, in particular of the Innuos Statement. The test of the SR Orange fuses turned out to be a bitter failure (they all blew) ...

My Statement receives the Qobuz stream via wifi through a Netgear Nighthawk Ax1800 and a Sablon Ethernet cable. At this stage, the sound quality of streaming is very close to that of reading the same files recorded on hard disks (up to 96kHz; without fiber, not enough bit rate to stream 192kHz).

I see for myself, in this post, various ways of improvement (and thank you in particular to Blackmorec for all its developments):

_ CMS Stage Center2 or even 2M feet, with the advantage of being able to try them under other devices (DAC, preamp ...); it is probably impossible to have them in test in France.
On this subject, have you opted for the small model or the intermediary? To be placed under the reading unit I think?

_Chord umbilical cords (Innuos does not lend them any sound improvement, and justifies better shielding due to a greater length, to deport the two boxes)...

_ audiophile switch (Aqvox Se for Blackmorec, Ether Regen or other ...) between the wifi recovery point and the statement: even if I have a lot of trouble understanding how it can improve the SQ.

Which of these three options would you start "tuning" with, for the best result?
Intellectually, starting with the switch is the most logical, to improve the musical flow, before tuning the streamer.
What about the importance of improving the SQ, respectively, of these 3 possibilities?

Thanks for your clarification, sorry for my google english!

Hi there Rhodium,
I popped back to your previous thread just so I had a bit of a reference.

For me, if I had your system together with my experience, I would first go for the Chord umbilical cables because they do up the sound quality, especially in the areas where you noted you’d like some further refinement/enhancement.

Following that, I would buy an Innuos PhoenixNET switch. Why that particular unit? Because if you go for Melco s100 you’d need a really good power supply and you’d actually benefit from a Pink Faun clock upgrade, which would then require a 2nd LPS rail. If instead you went for a SoTM switch, you’d still need a good power supply and a decent DC cable. Neither a single Melco nor an SoTM will give better results than the Innuos in my opinion and the Innuos has a built-in, 2 rail Sean Jacobs power supply, so is a single box solution. It does benefit from better Power cable and of course a decent Ethernet cable.

Regarding footers I really have no idea. I use mine with the OEM footers on a Finite Elemente Master Reference stand which seem to work very well together.

Hi,

I have a Statement and I had Sean Jacobs make me a pair of Mundorf silver umbilical cables. As I understand it the Chord cables are the same as the original Innuos ones, just longer with a more shielding. The ones Sean made are a big improvement on the originals. An improvement across all frequency but particularly around vocals, so much more realism, more natural.

Hi there Carcrashboy,
very interesting. Not sure about the Chord cable construction….there was quite a wait for Chord to refine and test their umbilicals (I understood there were several prototypes) and they do sound a lot better than the standard OEM units….hard (but not impossible) to believe that just adding screening can achieve those fairly profound changes…althought having said that, JSSG360 screening does make a fairly significant difference, even on network DC cables. When I bought the Chords Innuos sent me some to try and when I heard the price (ca £1000) I said to myself that they had to justify it on SQ alone. They did!
Mundorf silver/gold umbillicals definitely sound interesting (‘scuse the pun). I use the cable extensively for all my network power supplies’ internal and external DC cabling, with JSSG360 screens for the external cables (in fact the Chord umbilicals are the only place in all my DC supplies where I don’t use it ) and I really love the qualities it brings to my system…..truly holographic immersion and a wonderful purity, honesty and feeling that you’re listening to real musicians playing real instruments in a real venue acoustic, so i may have a chat with Sean. I compared the Mundorf with some Neotech JSSG360 cables made by Ghent Audio and the Mundorf was way better in every regard. The down side is that it takes months to properly run in and I’m trying to take a break-in break and just enjoy what i have. I’m going to do a major upgrade in November so i may give it a try then.
Based on my experience, if i had to choose without comparison, I’d gamble on the Mundorf Ag/Au simply based on the qualities its brought to the rest of my system .

Yes I have read about your adventures on various forums and had seen the direction you were going. That, and the fact that Sean designed the power supply components for the Statement, led me to to Sean. Still considering GIGAWATT etc

A big thank you Blackmorec for your wise and thoughtful advice.
I read your developments about the Phoenix Net, always very detailed, not to mention your literary phrasing when you mention the improvements in sound quality and especially the emotions and the connection with the musical work that they generate ... .

Given the extensive optimization, implemented before bringing the PN into play, there is no doubt about the quality of this device, which, moreover, is designed in-house from A to Z, with the same attentions as the Statement (and common elements). Being zero in computer science, with a system comprising a significant number of devices, the concept of all in one is also a major asset for me.
If I understood the diagram of your system, the PN is only connected at the output, to your Statement, is that it?

Thanks also to Carcrashboy for submitting an alternative to Chord cables, which nobody knows much about, in fact (other than the price).
The fact that your cables have been designed by Sean Jacobs himself, who is perfectly familiar with the Statement's power supply diagram, is an undeniable pledge of confidence.
Did you choose the nature of the material and the Mundorf brand or was it Sean Jacobs who advised you?
Would it be too intrusive to ask you their price before tax?
I guess I can easily apply for him through his website; man is reactive?

(English by google translate, sorry)
