Totaldac new DACs

I am hesitant to add anything, but isn't this a Totaldac thread for their announcements?
Yes indeed, and here is an annoncement!

The Totaldac d1-sublime DAC has been tested by Audiotechnique in Hong Kong and writes as a teaser (automatic translation):
"He was stunned when he opened the sound quality was compared to the vinyl system in his home, and he was at one point excited..."

and "the sound should ONLY be in heaven", written by Paul LEUNG

the corresponding video:

Haha! Yes, let all the "Audio Yentas" figure out the crony conspiracy that runs rampant on WBF-everyone knows the reputation here. TD is a great product, I've spent alot of time with it at home in my system as a consumer. Not a dealer/distributor/reviewer shill... Probably one of THE best DACs I've had in here and I've had some owned or heard some big name DACs. But at the risk of being a "Yenta" I will leave them out of this.

Keep up the RIDICULOUSLY great design Totaldac.

Hello,
I hope to see many of you at the Munich show.
The system will use many new components, all from Totaldac, made to sublime each other, trying to show that 1+1+1=6

d1-player-mk2
d1-switch
d1-streamer-sublime
d1-digital-sublime reclockers
d1-sublime DAC
Totaldac cables, including the RCA black attenuator
Amp-1-sublime amplifier, 2 units to drive the bass separately
custom active crossover for bass
Totaldac d120 speakers

Will you have the power regenerator too in Munich?
I didn't find the price on your HP.

Hello Vincent, no d1 driver this year in Munich?
Hello Nico,
No, the high gain of the Amp-1-sublime and the high efficiency of the speaker allow me to use a transformer based attenuator instead.
This allows me to use 2 extra reclockers, for fun.

Hi all,
Here is the 4K video of 28rooms, more than 3 hours recorded by Totaldac using Schoeps omnidirectional microphones and a studio interface.

Here are 3 comments from reviewers about the Totaldac room at the Munich High End show:

"The sound in that room was as impressive to me as the D120’s build quality. Played via a pair of D120s, some haunting female vocal music with a sparse piano accompaniment had such a wonderous sense of scale that it was easy to get lost in it. The speakers seemed right on the money tonally as well, and they conveyed the emotion in the singer’s lament just as competently as they did scale." Matt Bonaccio, SoundStage!

"the sound was wonderfully easy to listen to and fall into. Very nice!!" Lin and Stu, HIFIPIG

"second in the favorite room list 'In any event, this system sang out sweetly, filling the large space with high level emotion.'" Michael Lavorgna, TWITTERING MACHINES

I would like to add a thought about the last trade fair in Munich, where I was honestly disappointed with the reproductions of most of the rooms with digital sources! very few exceptions, including the TOTALDAC room!
Disappointed with the MSB Technology Cascade and the implementations of the new PC hardware-based streaming machine projects, perhaps the pairings were not happy...!
I was favourably impressed with the full TOTALDAC installation where the reproduced sound approached and touched the best analogue reproductions! Thanks to the full TOTALDAC synergy with the new d120 loudspeakers combined with the extraordinary analogue qualities of the sublime! A few exceptions were saved in Munich, for example another interesting room was Ansuz, Aavik & Børresen, for the rest many expectations strongly disappointed!

Same here... I was gravely disappointed by most "digital" rooms.
The MSB and DCS systems exhibited extreme cases of sibilance, which to me is a clear indication of "digital not done right".
My layman's "explanation" for this phenomenon is that the source (in its digital iteration that would include the complete digital chain, including modems and switches in the case where music is being streamed) is still naively neglected by certain (mostly DAC) manufacturers.
Imagine wanting to demo a high-end phonostage with a DJ style record deck...
The fallacy of that approach couldn't be more evident than in the rooms where proper care was given to the digital source (Taiko, Xact, etc).

yes unbelievable but most digital rooms sound very bad!!! Whoever organises a show at such an important trade fair has to pay attention to all the little details, but I think the gist then depends on the quality of the dac! for example I use up to three switches in my liquid music path, and a TOTALDAC Sublime of course, I like music that is like a good reel-to-reel recorder! I hate digital sound even if it is of a high level, but maybe it remains in the intentions of the designers!

Some people are expecting a feedback about the Totaldac room here https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/munich-highend-2024.38470/page-73
