American Sound, "The Absolute Nothing"

No. How is this relevant to the discussion? I haven’t commented on their sonics here.

I was just curios if you heard them. You seem to be suggesting that people modify speakers to improve their sound. These were modified because there was no existing baffle. I was hoping you could report on how they compare to original complete Eurodyns or even other modified ones. That is all.

And I was telling you baffle was made to a different spec and presented with more baffles to change sound. Yet you seem to be interested in your talking points. The speaker was modified. You want to dishonestly keep on this discussion instead of just admitting you had no idea what you were talking about in terms of original vintage Vs mods.

My understanding is that he stopped going frequently to his office during the covid scare.
April 2023, when he last played his system, was Covid scare era?

Probably for good reason. That post was pure snark. Though they share similar principles, the AS2000 is not a modified AS1000.

Tim, I understood the point. It was snarky ankle nipping. We agree, the AS2000 is not a modified AS1000. It is a new design using principles that were learned from the latter and improving upon them. In direct comparison, one can hear similarities, but the AS 2000 takes natural sound further. The new Absolute Nothing takes the same principles to extremes, adds some cool features like the strobe, adds a more advanced motor housing and isolation stand. The result is an even greater delta in sound quality, but the character is the same, just more ease, calmness and natural sound. Levels beyond the other two.

The guy who owns the first Absolute Nothing did have a modified AS1000 with platter and motor from the AS2000, kind of a hybrid. Wonderful tables, all of them. They are rare and hard to hear.

Gentlemen, can we please add a touch more class to the thread? Also, let's lose the "groups" and name calling of said groups. We are better than this.

The ignore feature works wonders, if someone irks your nerve. I highly recommend using it for the betterment of the forum as a whole. Thank you.

Tom

Tom, please remember you closed my topic (Audio Critique) , it was better to ask members to stop off-topic not closing the topic.

Please ask those members to stop off-topic

That is one thing. But it seems to me that it is a different thing for you to adopt a dogmatic view against modifications just because David told you modifications are bad.

Ron, David is not here to respond you.

There are many examples here:
David does not use ac filters but most audiophiles like ac filters.

I think David is very different to most audiophiles.

I trust him and his huge experience

That is a question for David.
I think it is all analog on his new table, the AS 2000 has digital parts in the controller and is only 2 phase with capacitor . "The Nothing" has a 3 phase controllers, better stability at all speeds. He should offer a upgrade for the AS 2000.:)

There is nothing for David to respond to. I know, myself, for a fact that David -- at least generally -- does not believe in replacing original parts. There is no controversy here.

I have posted many times that David has huge experience, and, in some matters, unequaled experience.

I like all analog speed controllers. The Brinkmann is an all analog system, as well.

What in the AS-2000 keeps the speed so steady at the selected speed?

Why has Tang kind of given up?
He has lost hifi enthusiasm, I can’t explain why.

further discussion is available on the thread where Peter said tang’s Eurodyn system had the best videos he has heard and I pointed out he has not been playing it since April 2023 and adyc posted a screenshot of tang saying so on YouTube.

But to summarise, his Neumann had stopped working, his Lamm ml2 which is used on subs had sockets not working (apparently a known issue with their stock sockets which can be fixed by replacing them with vintage johnson sockets) and his ML3 which is used on the main speakers had tube issues.

The amp problems can be fixed and he has other carts but he has not been interested in restarting. I don’t push since I did not like any of his videos and am irked at not getting the regular diet of his Cessaro videos. They were sounding great and he was investing in good music and recordings, that is all gone and I totally miss that part
