Another example of how high-end audio is a dying hobby. High-end hifi companies are struggling financially and there are many examples of this happening everyday. Most high-end brands are cottage companies and are being acquired by bigger mass market audio brands.

I don’t believe we know enough to say it was financial distress. Maybe it was but PE firms also sell based on valuation.Another example of how high-end audio is a dying hobby. In addition to this I’ll add (as a retired PE partner) there are also other issues at play. These can include the age of the fund and/or a tactical desire to return funds to shareholders (especially true when preparing to market a new fund).
My reaction was yawn McIntosh was sold again.
At least we can take comfort in our gear is a valuable growing asset.

It is may be actually much better than some capital investment group from Denver (previous owner). At least they are in the audio biz.
Bose seems to be pushed out lately by companies like Bang & Olufsen and Burmester from automotive upper part of the market - having McIntosh and Sf brands may help them in that part of the market.

Components first , then proper music to make them sing .... !
I've yet to find a audio system that can accurately reproduce a pipe organ recital from a cathedral...just saying.
Love of music FIRST necessitates the need for components to reproduce that love.
