That's a possibility as well, but I would need to have a volunteer use a dial caliper on their body so I could log the dimensions.

I have asked my friend with the damaged Rosewood for dimensions of the body and he kindly furnished them to me. If you or anyone needs the information just send me a message. He's an engineer by professional and has a caliper so the figures will be good.

A friend sent his SME20/2 with SME5 tonearm and his rebuilt Urushi Gold to me for installation and testing. Included is his Koetsu SUT. Sounds good.

Gosh that Gold is so pretty in light! Wajima, Tsugaru and Vermillion seem to soak up all the Urushi attention - I like to see Black, Gold, and Blue getting some love! The Back also reminds me of VAC's gold-fleck finish on their components.

I've built a nice 2nd system at my girlfriend Lisa's home - slightly scaled down from main rig, but still quite nice and 100% vinyl based. She has a gray tabby, "Tubbs", who looks just like that. I love the guy! Fortunately he's a super well-mannered cat who wouldn't jump onto my table or rack. The acrylic cover is a smart move nonetheless, and looks great!

Here is the Black Urushi from 2006, it does look like the VAC black finish with gold speckles.

I’ve been traveling across Japan and came upon this plaque at the Kanazawa train station. Thought it might be interesting to Koetsu lovers especially those with Urushi cartridges. How surprised those original master artists would be to learn their craft is still admired today for their visual beauty and their contribution to the reproduction of beautiful music.

The Koetsu is like the Faberge egg of phono cartridges, simply exquisite.

There is still a lot of uncertainty in the future of Koetsu. As users, we of course want the brand to carry on.

Recently got a Koetsu Jasper Diamond from the dealer, they don’t have many stocks left. Although not burn in, Jasper Diamond sounds very good, very detailed. I can see it becomes the best cartilage in my lineup after a while.

We are fortunate indeed to have been in the same era as the father and son Sugano. Father lived till almost 95 and the son at 82. Most of us have the son's work, thanks to the father. 2 truly unique cartridge artisans.

Surely at the age of 82, Sugano-san would/should have taken steps to have a succession plan to continue the manufacture of Koetsu cartridges.

Hopefully he did. If not, almost criminal neglect.

I would guess an even meatier sound, but that’s just my guess. The Blue Lace on my 4 point is meaty enough ? !!!
