Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

Love it as well - very smooth transition from Pac with Nixie to Horizon with Nixie

Yes the Horizon will get better. Switching tubes and cables always has an effect.
Allowing the cables and tube pins to "seat" improves performances.
If you met Lukasz you will know he is to energetic to rest on his laurels. He may currently divert his attention downstream, I wager he will eventually come back to the Horizon.
That's all I have to say.
I turn it over to those who have the opportunity to live with Horizon long term.
Enjoy the music.

It must be said, that the typical display like LCD or OLED require separate poWer supply (nixie doesnt) and its processor to manage pixels (nixie doesnt) and the processor needs a clock and data bus (nixie doesnt) and the lcd generates some level of noise (nixie doesnt) so it is a very wise choice for a DAC.

Now , as you said that finally, the knowledge belongs to all , and as it follows the better understanding of the benefits going beyond the aesthetics only ;)

....so much so that I heard comments that he cannot build anything better than the Horizon
Hm...knowing him a "bit" I would say this is within the realm of something I don't believe it will happen. After he decompress from all the stress related to Horizon and I guess other stuff imposed by current world we live in, things get into normal daily production, sails the Cape Horn alone, wins the Americas Cup with the Polish team, creative part will kick in and here we go again.
Maybe AKM, as they started to ship their new "Velvet Sound" chips for developers, come with some ground breaking stuff and voila...critical mass is there...
And lastly - never underestimate the power of the force ;)

Last night I started a thread on Audiogon on the Horizon. I woke up this morning and read the comments and I was upset. It is also why I value the people on WBF for information and advice. Check out the thread and respond if you care.

Will - You rarely find people like here on WBF...usually forums are places with uber strange personas (imho)

Damn what a group of unhappy people on there. I’m sure the new H dAC will be a new top of maintain sound. I’ll hear it at Florida show.

Unfortunately communities like this one are the exception rather than the norm, which is a testament to the way Steve and Ron run this forum. People are fast to criticize things they've yet to experience and even faster still if their knee jerk reaction is that something is 'too expensive' for what it is.

We do our best to avoid the negativity and simply pound the pavement doing shows, visiting clubs, attending private functions and doing demos.

Fortunately, the vast majority of those who experience it for themselves get it.

These are the same people who say a 500 dac is all you need or formats don’t matter
to each there own. what surprises me is all the talk and no one heard it but the man who posted. i can’t afford most of the stuff most have here. But I still know there is always better.

Will , I posted the following in responce to a post from a new member who I presume is/was also a member of that particular forum.

“ A polite request, Please do not bring any baggage with you from over on Audiogon onto this forum. “

I would politely ask of you the same :)

I had the pleasure of having breakfast with Willgolf(sorry your given names escape me)and his wife on Sunday. They were both polite and pleasing. I also eavesdropping on his discussions with Lukasz.
Based on my observation he has given serious deliberation to his decision to go with the Horizon. He need not explain or apologize for his ability to afford it and the system required to support it.
IMO Screw the critics.

I have to agree.

May the force be “ with us”

So you’ve never heard but have such a bold opinion. To each our own I guess

YMMV but I’m betting I’m crossing the finish line
For the money you paid Steve I should hope so.

I doubt the gap is as big as you suppose it might be, but enjoy it and don't get upset by my statements. Tisn't worth the while.

I know what I know, though. And I have heard a lot of Lampis and owned three.

Well that makes you an expert I guess

Hopefully, for the next couple of years he will work on taking the technology from the higher end dacs to the lower ones :D

or even a reboot of the Pacific

I hope Yoda will correct me if I'm wrong but B3 is from this revised thinking/design series so I hope to see Pac, GG and TRP with this. A4 is anyway out as of few weeks ago...
