Shunyata Triton/ Typhon

In the interest of cost effectiveness, I am actually toying with the idea of putting both my poweramps onto the same circuit and add a single python.....

In my home audio system I use a Cyclops that drives two Audio Research mono blocks. I am currently using slightly modified versions of the XiTron VIPER cables to power the amps and the Cyclops. It sounds good.

If I find some time I would like to add a Typhon but the AC circuit is only a single outlet, so I would have to get some wiring done.

For two poweramps and a Typhon you would need a four socket outlet ... To get 4 high grade sockets, you probably need to wire something yourself using 2 x two socket.

You just need a duplex outlet. Plug the Cyclops into one outlet and the Typhon into the other. Then the power amps are plugged into the Cyclops. See?

Of course. However, if you don't want to spend $3K on the Cyclops and just use a Typhon (which from what I gather gives the most bang for the buck on poweramps), you need four outlets.

Finding audiophile grade duplex outlet it not an issue. However, for 2 poweramps and one typhon on a single circuit I would need a quadplex, which is much harder to find.

A quad outlet has two duplexes mounted side by side. You simply need an electrical box that accepts two duplexes and faceplate to match. This is all very commonly available at a Home Depot or electrical supplier.

Sure. But you would need to internally wire the duplexes together for this to work.

Shunyata umbilical cord questions

I am probably going to make a buying decision shortly. One of the decisions is the umbilical. I presume this is just a very short run of a 20A terminated version of the standard Zitron cable model. I can line up my Typhon (may be two if I decide to go down that path), right behind the outlet, so I should be OK with such a short run. 2 questions. How short are the short runs? Does anyone have pricing on this umbilicals - I asked my dealer, but can anyone give me list prices. Finally, is it really worth the money to get anaconda level umbilical? In absolute terms no doubt this will be the best, but how much better performance does this really buy you - I presume they won't be cheap.... What umbilical cable level would be the price performance sweetspot?

From what I have read as well as been told it is recommended that the same type power cord used from the Triton to the wall should be also used in the umbilical. I bought Anaconda for both

How much was list price for the anaconda umbilical? That will probably give me the formula for calculating all other models.

I'd still like to know how much the relative impact of the quality of umbilical is, since this cable performs a fundamentally different function than a regular powercord.

You can go on thecableco.com, look up the Typhon and they have a drop down for all the umbilicals with prices. Anaconda is $2k

I have all Anacondas in my system and like Steve ordered all Anaconda umbilicals so I can't offer any opinion on the less expensive cords. I will say that apparently I'm not going to have the 2 umbilicals I ordered for another week. That would make it a 2 week delivery time to get them. I've had the TYPHONS running for 8 days now on 2 full size Anacondas.

Thanks. It appears they make the pricing of the higher end cables more enticing. The anaconda is 2/3 of the price of the full length, the Python - 75% and the Cobra cost the same..... Anaconda it is I guess .....

trust me when I tell you that you won't be disappointed

It does take quite a while to burn in these two units. As Franks said, you won't ever want to listen to the Triton without the Typhon. It's an eye opening experience

I'm in the market for either one Typhon for my two monoblocks, or two (one for each mono), and a Triton for my front end components. No doubt I can do better than that but this is what my budget would allow, not to mention lake of space. I thinkt the price performance sweetspot would be to connect my two mono's to a single Typhon, and my front end to a Triton, adding units (and cables) after that will give me lower marginal return (SQ / $$).

I don't understand how you would use one Typhon for both monoblocks as there is only one AC outlet on the Typhon
