I'm routinely amazed at the seemingly consistant well-engineered (or better) recordings over the decades. I think this is around 1958.

BTW, is Johnny really singing what I think he's singing? Interesting.

This one was a surprise to me: Placido Domingo doing duets with John Denver. Denver keeps up pretty well considering Placido's strength and range. Sound quality is just moderate. 45 tubes on BG Ribbon midrange 300hz-7khz.

I don't really know until I look it up, but I presume it is a studio recording.

Gordon LIghtfoot deserves some kind of honorable mention for male vocals. Even if just for this one song. Not very well-engineered by any means but still quite musical.
