Zero Distortion: Tango Time

If you want to bring Mike up as an example of doing it right, and then say I'm digressing when I suggest he's not so different from the rest of us in principle, feel free. I'll bow out too.

A few hundreds bucks is Mickey Mouse when audiophiles invest in gears worth so many thousands. Not to mention tape that cost even more for each album but so many sound like crap still. If you can spend more than 100 thousands of gears to play mediocre softwares and you spend thousands more on tweaks that just season your sound or another 50,000 on electronic that just gives different but not better sound, I think it is much more worthwhile listening to just youtube from iPad. Even at present price I truly believe I wont lose any money on my investment in good vinyls.

Kind regards,
Tang

Hundred thousands is peanuts today ...

I don't have any idea why they can't PM it out... Although I think maybe Ked doesn't like PMs.

Oh he emails me jabs sometimes too. It's like guerrilla warfare, on all fronts

Ked, I thought our PMs were declarations of undying love.

Only one Marc, I promise. Feel safe to come over

Would you people get a hemorrhoid if you don't jab at each other for a day?

Tang

Lol, good one :D and how true sometimes some losing their mojo.
It's people like you Tango who have the opportunity to educate to higher standards with verve.
The disrespect and misunderstanding floors me sometimes.
I jump over because it is simply not worth wasting precious time.

You're a leader Tango; do what you do best; lead. :)

Every single day I want to jump away; that's what keeps me "alive". :D

This is the home I chose and with the people living under its roof.
That's my decision and nobody else. There's an assortment of humans here where I'm comfortable with.

Tango time.

Marc... An efficient market is one where the majority of people here have done the compares tang and Mike are writing about, and have equal information to general on the LP recordings. You will never have this in hifi. Which is why dealers and reviewers will always have power.

And even if not to that extent, more relevant to where this kicked off, anyone with Tang's, Bill's, mine, or anyone with exposure to General's LPs , has made a choice to not pursue that path and instead choose gear. This is fine with me if it is a conscious choice. To which microstrip contended most would have that information (his statement who does not make an informed choice either on that or any aspect).

Considering your systematic misrepresentation of other people positions and absence of desire to discuss posts with original posters I will take a sabatic of this thread. IMHO we should debate contents and ideas, not the posters. Using people as weapons will not make WBF a friendly and open space - surely YMMV.

Yes, it started with your post, not the poster. The above is just systematic misrepresentation of my post

Ked, twice on this thread I've tried to engage w you.
Initially to probe your superior knowledge of great pressings.
Now to contend that the majority of us use poor decision making in choosing gear.
On both occasions you haven't logically followed thru on ideas I'd loved to have engaged w you on.
So, please carry on proposing arguments but not happy to carry on engaging.
And by all means, carry on demeaning those who you disagree with, as if there's any objective truth in any of this.
Your data points are no more or no less important than others.

Bill himself told you, as did I twice, that your question on pressings did not make sense? If you didn't want the data points why keep bringing the point up?

And yes hifi by nature is a hobby where people will not make informed decisions.

You are not engaging with me you are writing what you want to irrespective of the points I make

Tang,

Here are a few recommended originals I won at auction last night. The Decca and SAX records have been on my hit list for some years now...I don't know how the Kogan will sound (mono).View attachment 50528View attachment 50529View attachment 50530View attachment 50531View attachment 50532
Thank you Christian. I will find my way to them. I dont think I had Erica Morini before. That Tartini sounds very interesting.

The reissue Rabin already sounds very good. The sound of orchestra goes really deep. Front wall just does not exist. If a layer of veil is taken out would be superb. The high pitch of Rabin pierces through air from dead center. Excellent performance from him. How it was record was excellent. You get the whole picture coherently in front of you. I cant imagine the original pressing.

Tang :)

In the general's room you will see a section dedicated to Morini. You can get some Tang. She is famous for that devil's trill (as is Oistrakh) and Tchaikovsky among other things.
