Justin doesn't believe in isolation and stuff, he will keep his table on top of a speaker if he could.

Then again the last time you saw a TT in my room was... ages ago.

But that said it was (and is) a suspended deck wot isolates.:D

You guys are too easily seduced by reputation, large size and price. This designer is well aware of all three and has priced it to get a Pavlov’s dog response from you.

Are you saying that as since long we know from experience that reputation, large size and price brings us good sound , we are very reacting positively to this particular turntable? Yes, in some sense.

Reputation for me is a key point in the high-end. Perhaps it is not exactly fair for newcomers, but I am very influenced by previous work - CV matters for me. :)

And struggle to see how AF0 really goes SIGNIFICANTLY beyond the Vyger.

...Marc, I believe that listening could be the dominant sense to be utilized :)[/QUOTE]

While I don't disagree about listening, having heard and compared AF3, AF3p, AF1, and AF1p, to other tables does not leave me curious. Maybe he finally achieved something over them, who knows? All the other 4 models lack the nuance that I referred to in an earlier post. I prefer Brinkmann balance and Vyger and AS to all 4 of them. Others might differ, but for me it has nothing to do whether it is AF3 or AF1p. Tang's AF1p seldom gets played, I haven't seen a single visitor to ddk really write prefer the AF1 at his, and another preferred the MS 5000 to AF1, both of which he owned. So will AF0 be that much better? One way to never find out is make it so high priced that consumer feedback will never flow through due to the very low number of models with end users.

Poor Italy,
Italian distributor sold some AF3 and one AF2
This is the situation in Italy after 40 years of bad government,
the economic situation is always worse year by year and many companies close everyday

Hi Justin,

I would have expected a very comprehensive isolation solution in the stand rather than a visuals thing. Bit like Apolyt type thing.

To my eyes, purely aesthetically, the Apolyt looks somewhat hideous in its own medieval rack sort of way. But at least the turntable and stand look consistent; it is clear they were designed together and by the same person.

Ron, noone is picking the AF0 over the Apolyt because it's somehow less imposing, integrated stand or no integrated stand.

My guess is that those fortunate enough to own an AF Zero will be ordering them sans Artesania rack and will use their own preferred racks. It's not as if the TT and rack come glued together as a package.

I truly don't understand how once again there is so much fuss from the peanut gallery. For me it isn't so much the lack of aesthetics about the rack but more so the lack of science to support the function of the rack. It was my understanding that Nishikawa San did look at other racks but because he distributes Artesania in Japan, it made things complex for him. To me the rack is nothing more than an after thought and likely doesn't impact the sound for better or worse

I guess I look at the AF0, and then I look at the Vyger. The latter for £60k gives me biaxial air suspension and isolation plus an integrated isolating stand, integrated air bearing LT arm, massive and massively overengineered platter, plinth and motor.

And then I look at the AF0 and think about the £340k excess.

And struggle to see how AF0 really goes SIGNIFICANTLY beyond the Vyger.

The AFO and the Micro Seiki 8000 MKII are effectively the same turntable (from a technology and engineering perspective) made 40 years apart. I personally don't see the AF0 as a state of the art engineering marvel. I see it as an awesome piece of hand built industrial art. I hope to see one some day.

I think the most interesting review that I am hoping to read is from Tang's audio buddy in Thailand who owns two AF 2000 and has an AF Zero on order

That review will be very definitive in the great scheme of things

Completely agree Steve, we have learned so much from this guy's system on the differences between WAMM, vox Olympian, kronos / AS / Ascona (or whatever tables he has, and the various phonos).

Why two AS2000s?
I mean each one can support 4 arms/carts.

Two different systems in different rooms. One WAMM and one vox Olympian. Did you not read the reports from DDK, Doshi and Tang's tonearm guy who have been in there praising the WAMM? Or from the owner himself?

Exactly my thinking on the matter.

Hey Brad. My smallest DAC is a USB stick. You carry one of the largest and heaviest single chassis DACs in the world. Maybe you forgot :p Does that mean the gentlemen at Aries intended to fleece you and your customers?

My favourite piece of graffiti I ever saw was at school:
"If you can pi$$ higher than *this* point, the fire brigade needs you!"

40 years of improvements in CAD and Machining mean nothing Jeff?
