Gryphon announcement!

To bad their latest amps are lacking the good looks that Rasmussens designs had. That big triangle on the front is not attraktiv. Seems like output and size wise they are following in the footsteps of Dan In his maddest Master Reference Krell days.
Really? I think the new components look beautiful.

Flemming did the exterior design on the Apex.

Thanks,
I guess he is loosing his touch ! ;) The Essence does not live up to the older designs in the looks department either ! In my personal opinion, and all that ! I like the new stands though.:) Nice interview !

This seems a bit odd to me after the introduction of the Ethos CD player, my vote for the most beautiful CD player ever.

How much is the power amp? I can’t find it in the announcement.
I thought I read Eur85K for stereo and 160K for monos?

EDIT: Found it:

"...The Gryphon Commander pre-amplifier is priced at €52,500. The Apex Stereo costs €82,500, with the Mono priced at €165,000 per pair. Additionally, a StandArt Amplifier Stand will also be released soon, ticketed at €6,500."

Wow...what an import tax. Isnt Eur165K approximately USD$187K? That is one of those odd things about certain products...the F/X sets the same product in a completely different price band in comparison with a local product. The D'Agostino Relentless in UK is £240K I think...and $250K in the US. The Apex is $240K in the US it seems...but only £160K in UK. So £80K or 1/3 less than the D'Agostino.

And Gryphon no longer have a distributor, they have direct distribution, so the price should not be that high.

Show me the money sukers :p

I'm sure it's just me but if one spends this kind of money for amps, shouldn't the stand be included?

Its funny that you say that...I kind of agree. In fact, I specifically would say on behalf of both sides (Seller and Buyer) if Gryphon just included the stand and increased the price by 6K, I dont think anyone would blink.

I am pretty sure that Boulder essentially does that with their 3060 amps where the massive granite slab comes with it.

These are gorgeous looking. Is the price include VAT? It's like 25% in Denmark.

We must realize that the modern high-end looks are not targeted to the classic occident flavor we like so much, but must please the oriental aesthetics. Manufacturers know where most of their prospective buyers will be - see the Wadax Reference!

Yeah the Wadax sounds very good but it is pretty ugly.

This would be a good thread. The Oracle and Linn CD12 would top mine
Yes, those are beautiful as well. Also the Anniversary dCS Player is pretty cool.
