by xlr output, are you referring to aes/ebu?
Nothing to complain about analog output

have you compared the two outputs with TAS and your TotalDAC?
I'm currently running Extreme >USB > RME > AES > D & D 8C. How would the AES/EBU output option effect the DAC in the 8C that USB doesn't?We do have a AES/EBU output option which can be driven by TAS.

I set it up with the ASIO driver. Is the USB controller something apart from the driver? In that case the DAC in the D&D 8C is irrelevant, only the USB controller in the RME is relevant.
The driver affects the USB controller as it drives it.I set it up with the ASIO driver. Is the USB controller something apart from the driver?
Is there any info about the controller that would be helpful getting the most out of TAS?The driver affects the USB controller as it drives it.
With the RME, set the PCM DAC buffer to AutoIs there any info about the controller that would be helpful getting the most out of TAS?
As a Ravenna ASIO user, you get the full advantage of TAS music file preparation and optimization.Hi Emile. I am using Revanna and I think it is based on ASiO with no USB driver involved. Is there any theoretical benefit for the upgrading to TAS?
Hi Jelt,Has anyone else experienced a screeching sound going from one high res file to another file (high res or not?). This is TAS direct.
Nothing like that here.Has anyone else experienced a screeching sound going from one high res file to another file (high res or not?). This is TAS direct.
Nuway, would you give an example of a recording from the 70/80's that sounds crappy through Roon/Qobuz streaming , but sounds a lot better on TAS streaming? That reminds to make a comparative listen to one of my favorite sonic disasters from the 80's: King Crimson, Discipline , "Elephant Talk."It was not till this past weekend when I have expend almost the whole weekend to listen to good music with TAS. I tested three DACs (Aqua Formula, T+A MP3100 HD and MSB ref). On PCM, MSB bested the other two but just by a small margin). I don't now It was me but I feel that with TAS the use of different DACs and the resulting SQ has narrowed a bit. In my system and ON DSD the MP3100HV sounded better to me than the others, playing from the the Extreme Octanes HDD. The sense of analog, the space and delicacy on medium to highs freqs is crazy good with the all three DCAs. One thing to notice now with TAS is the very fair analog presentation with almost NO distortion when playing recordings from the 70's and the 80's. I never liked these recording when played in ROON before TAS and allways went back to my TT to a more pleasure listening. Back to work now and anxiously waiting for the next weekend to another extensive listening session.
