My slow mind this early in the day thought the same. Fortunately for me my iPad and router are in the same room . Thanks for clarifying David as the Router questions and answers were well above my pay grade.
There may be a problem with that speed between the Taiko Router and the control device. Since the design of XDMS opted not to download the metadata to the tablet, but rather keep it on the Server, sometimes the display of the covers is frustratingly slow, and I wonder if this could get worse.
A recommendation for the perfect tablet would be very welcome.
A Samsung A8 is less than 200 Swiss Francs here.
No need to add more functions than playing music with the Extreme.
If this helps all things Taiko to perform best, I think a few of us would get one.

Ed,
Do I understand correctly that the device one uses can effect the sound? This surprised me. I presumed the remote device (MacOS vs PC/Samsung) would not be important as I assumed it is the player program (i.e. XDMS, Roon etc) that would be the big determinant of the final sound regardless of the device used. Can you please explain why the choice of the handheld device itself effects the sonics?
Marty

Marty, the device only affects the sound for OCD audiophiles. I guess one could subscribe to the theory that “everything matters,” but this is one (of many) things that I am not going to even contemplate.

Those devices generate network activity, app background activity, sync your iCloud backup, upload telemetry, the privacy violation stuff like your location, etc. More when in use then when in sleep mode. Apple seems to do that a bit more then Google (android) but neither are saints in that area.
so here's my question. My iPad and router are in the same room. I never use that iPad for anything but XDMS. Is that not an ideal situation for the topic at hand or am I missing something

Here it is a slow and sunny day so maybe I can ask Emile a few things that have never been answered.....however if it is premature in getting an answer, I understand.....over this past ear IIRC you said you had 17 projects in development or soon to be developed....can you share in part or in whole what these projects are, when they might surface and what they are intended for
