I also like this (as briefly mentioned by Tango in another dedicated thread):

"Shadi had asked Michael Fremer to spin a few discs, and on some of his rock music selections you got a real sense of the TechDAS Zero’s relaxed yet crushing authority. But for me perhaps the highlight was a Deutsche Grammophon recording of Gidon Kremer and Martha Argerich playing Beethoven’s Sonata No. 1 for piano and violin. The silky smoothness of the TechDAS playback allied to a seemingly limitless palette of dynamic gradations…it sounded simply gobsmacking."

Given the 12" LP, it looks mammoth - gobsmackingly mammoth - like it could be 3' square or more. Does anyone know the dimensions? How far from the front of the stand is it to a cuing lever? Suspect one would want to wear soft clothes (no metal belts) when playing a record.
Does it have a dustcover?

My table is pretty much the same dimension. Cueing from the front is no problem...and I am short :D. The the back arm, I have to have a space on the right to stand and cue. Christian probably has no problem cueing at all. The most.difficult arm is the left arm.

Kind regards,

Eyeballing it last night I would’ve guessed it was a little more than 3 feet wide and a little less than 3 feet deep.

Assume you mean your AF1. That's reasonable - still a footprint, but not a clumsy reach, though back left might be a wee bit awkward for a right-hander such as myself. I've learned to think before I move (slow and methodical) around tables. I do look at the stylus with a loupe before play, so that would be awkward with back arms without side access.

Actually I meant my AS2000 table. It is not just the tt size. You have to take into account of the table (rack) that the tt stands on.

This is one interesting record I still don't know for sure what to think. But I played it three four times already so it means something to me. (I have 9 Ed Pongs tapes..similar kind of music but I listened most of them only once.) G sent me this for a gift. I mentioned earlier before I did not know why he sent a digital remastered record to me. The sound, the realism, is almost at the same level as the Heifetz Kreutzer I posted before. But this record has the lowest noise floor and quietness I have ever experienced..even lower than the ERC stuff. And it is not the kind of low noise like most Analog Production stuffs where you don't get that naked transparency. You could easily fool people you were playing tape...or is it digital at the farthest reaching level? If I were talking only to Lagonda I would be saying shit am I turning gay? I dont know which way I stand..hehe ...digital or analog? It is a violin from Henri Lewkowicz recorded mono in the 50's. The recording style is very 50's but the sound is quite modern. You cannot find this record elsewhere. I think G has a few dozens of it. I am not promoting G but he is the one who has all the interesting vinyls to show me. Bonzo and Bill have heard it and they did not like it. I thought it is a very interesting record in term of sound so I post this. I only like side B Saint-Saen, Joaquin Nin and Paganini. Side A is Bartok, the music that confused the hell out of me.

Hi Tang we like it the performance is great especially the saint saens piece which is the same piece as the one G had posted a mono of heifetz playing on a Garrard.

But like with the ERC we feel the other normal originals are more natural. The thing with ERC and this one is that in most cases if you do not get these issues, it will be almost impossible to get the performance on LP

The cover says: "24bit/192kHz Digital Restoration from the original master tape Previously unissued record, 1st pressing LP & 1st master release (180g Pure Virgin Vinyl) 500 Limited Edition."

So maybe not just 'almost impossible'. It may be wonderful music but I suspect rarity is its cachet.

There's a v nice Decca issuance with Ricci (SXL 2197), and a fine all analog Speakers Corner reissue for we plebes that includes the Rondo along with S-S' delightful Havanaise.

Hi when I say impossible, I meant to get a good pressing for a reasonable amount. For example the Kogan Beethoven original is 5k GBP plus, the ERC was issued at 300 to 450 and after being sold out is idk maybe a 1000 plus?

The one that tang posted is a 100 or 200, not sure.

The Ricci original is phenomenal. Too expensive for me though

Thank you for your recommendation.

Now that you're playing classical, come back in ten years for another go at Bartok. :)

Let me work on Beethoven for ten years and then Bartok as you said.

Tang;)

There likely will be 500 copies of this Lewkowicz album, period. I suppose the trick was knowing about the recording's existence to even look for the master tape.

ERC raises their prices as copies available drop.

The one that tang posted is a 100 or 200, not sure.

A few hundreds bucks is Mickey Mouse when audiophiles invest in gears worth so many thousands. Not to mention tape that cost even more for each album but so many sound like crap still. If you can spend more than 100 thousands of gears to play mediocre softwares and you spend thousands more on tweaks that just season your sound or another 50,000 on electronic that just gives different but not better sound, I think it is much more worthwhile listening to just youtube from iPad. Even at present price I truly believe I wont lose any money on my investment in good vinyls.

Kind regards,
Tang
