I’ve joined the “Extreme” party late, but I am sure glad I made it. After just one night listening I can say I’ve never heard digital in my room sound this good. I can confidently proclaim “It Doesn’t Suck!” (And that’s with Roon, before updates. TAS not loaded yet, but soon.)

Emile, Edward, and the rest of the Taiko team — well done gentlemen, thank you.

It will continually improve for several weeks.

After copying yesterday afternoon and all tonight the music from Melco to Extreme, now it's my first session with TAS. Something curious has happened to me, I was not liking the sound and I was very frustrated by the financial outlay. I was changing ethernet cables in the back of the rack and when I got back to my listening chair I saw that the Extreme was off. I have tested the power cable and I have seen that it was loose and did not make contact. I have tightened it and turned on the Extreme, the change in sound has been instantaneous. I don't know if it was due to a loose cable or because after copying all the music, the Extreme needed a restart (I think this is it) but luckily now it is sounding great.

Let's put it this way, I was starting to feel a cold sweat on my back………..

Hi Francisco, I can imagine how you must have felt! But I don't think the change in sound was due to the restart. From earlier experience, I know that a loose power connection can absolutely wreak havoc on a system's sound. In any event, I'm glad to hear it's now sounding great!

I'll have to monitor the connection periodically, because Shunyata Sigma NR cables are heavy.

That's always a good idea. And with many connections (power, interlinks, and speaker cables), periodically unplugging everything and plugging it all back in can actually work wonders for the clarity and expression of the music. As a reviewer, this happens in my system naturally;-)

These work great to support heavy plugs

I have had very good experiences with Furutech NCF Booster .

I use paper cups at some parts of my system to support my power cords to make the connectors align straight with the outlet. The great thing is you can use them standing up or sideways, squeeze them where needed or staple them if necessary. Also they are great to put some distance between cables (and they are so light that they stay in place even up in the air) so there is less interference. 10 pieces are like 2€. Have high-end tweaks ever been this affordable?!
