Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

@Surge1 Out of date firmware (on my router) invariably causes hiccups with Roon performance in my setup. Might be worth checking to see if your router firmware is up to date?

Good idea. I did check for this however.

I have never tried TAS. Perhaps it’s time. Can someone walk me through how? I assume it’s already preloaded on the Extreme? And there’s an App in the Apple Store?

be careful Surge as once you hear TAS you can't go back and with XDMS soon to appear, Im betting most of us will consider Roon a relic

Right. I have no desire to go back to Roon!
I don’t see the TAS app on the drive; but not sure where to look…
You have to get it from test drive.

TAS is not installed by default, we will need to register you as an apple app tester (testflight) and the TAS beta software will need to be installed on to your Extreme. We did end the TAS beta a while ago because the support intensity was delaying the release of its successor XDMS too much. But if you want to have it installed you can e-mail support@taikoaudio.com to initiate the process.

Ok thanks. I am familiar with TestFlight. I’ll wait for XDMS!

Ok, I know the Munich show is coming up and the team is hard at work on numerous hardware and software projects, but someone has to do it.....so I will.

Can Team Taiko share any updates with us?

Here is what I am listening to this morning via Extreme/TAS....

Sounds awesome. What electronics are in this setup right now?

Yes, it's sounding very nice at this time- Extreme server, Esoteric K1X dac, Pilium Alexander, Pilium Achilles, VYDA cables.

Thank you sir! Just updated and last reboot was ~3 days ago, the longest it’s ever gone. So it looks promising. Thanks for letting me know!
Hi Surge1, that sounds like good news! Do let us know how you get on the next days.

Hi Christiaan,
Thanks. Yes, today Roon wasn’t playing so I had to reboot the Extreme. When I press play, it saying “playing” for a second, but nothing happens, and I don’t hear the Nagra DAC’s relay clicking. Roon then seems to give up.
I’m not really worried about it, as I’ll never run Roon again once XDMS is out…

@Surge1 - This may already have been mentioned but last night some things in Roon would not play. I updated to Build 943 and everything worked fine...
