Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Thanks @Rhapsody I had missed this ability (I just assumed that current Alpha-client had not yet linked it's search-ability to the XDMS-server's API)!

With above search-ability the discovery process works well:
- Ability to search via Qobuz' search-API
- Ability to add a track to Qobuz' Favourite-tracks
- Ability to add a track to an existing Qobuz Playlist

For my use cases I am only missing two things in XDMS (in priority order, most important first):
1) Ability to stream higher resolution than 16/44 from Qobuz
2) Ability to add an album to Qobuz' Favourite-releases

Later on - it would be great to integrate with Qobuz' radio-function so that after a track/album/playlist have been delivered by XDMS - streaming continues, with tracks selected by Qobuz' native radio-function.

Q - if you have the XDMS alpha installed, is it easy to go back and forth between XDMS and Roon or does it become a complex process? Am curious to try XDMS for the sound upgrade but would still like to be able to easily switch back to Roon for the stability of the interface…
Presently, you will need technical skills to go in directly into Extreme and change settings on Windows-level and then reboot -> rather tricky and if you mess-up you will need to bug Taiko Support, i.e. take focus away from expanding scope and quality of XDMS.

There is support in UX Design in XDMS-client to allow you to declaratively switch between XDMS | Roon but not yet connected to the XDMS-server -> not yet operational.

Above is my understanding - I could be off, pls confirm anyone that has detailed insight.

Thanks, Nils, if this is correct, might sit tight for time being.

I just had three forum members ask me how I was searching in Tidal or Qobuz. It's the small Icloud type for search icon to the right or Tidal or Qobuz after you click the Tidal or Qobuz icon.

It is NOT the search icon on the bottom right of the screen.
Correct - there are two search functions, one for local library search (mag glass bottom right) and one for streaming services (cloud top left)

I'm not sure about that. I don't think so, Ed, Christiaan?
Searching and playing streaming albums does not add them to the local library. However, you can add individual tracks as favorites or add them to playlists as part of your streaming service account. There is a popup menu for this after tapping the 3-dots but this functionality.

This is entirely correct:)

It's not rocket science but not recommended for people who are not accustomed to digging a little deeper in the OS. For those, I would recommend waiting for us to have added the switching feature to the app.

All great pieces of information Christiaan....thank you!

I know I cannot reasonably ask when XDMS will be finished - I think it never will, as it is a work in progress, subject to improvements in time.

But may I ask for your guesstimation when you will launch a version for all of us?
Hopefully including hires playback and maybe download capability from other dsd marketing websites?

Meanwhile warming up my new toy - hoping that those Duelund caps are full, center stage footers settled, Sablon cables broken in maybe next weekend:)

Sorry, we cannot provide an estimation. Just know we are working on it as hard as we can.

Enjoy your new server!

Oh oh.
“XDMS server not available“
Can I do something?
Restarting app and Taiko extreme at the front panel did not help.

Re check the IP of your extreme and make sure it matches what is entered in the Connect To Extreme page in the XDMS settings.

Manually entered IP address looks ok, still „unable to connect“.
Hmmm.

Not sure if this will help.... My go to when I had any connectivity issues after updating to the latest release... clicking the XDMS Restart icon in the VNC Viewer. Then as @dminches suggested, recheck that your IP address is a correct match in the manual connection field in the "Connect to Extreme" window in XDMS. Good luck!

Just make sure that on your PC in VNC Viewer, under TaskManager, the two files XDMS server and XDMS player are both showing as “running” under the status column on the far right. I encountered an issue here and had to right click on these two files and click ‘start’ as they had stopped for whatever reason. As ctydwn sais above, restarting may also help but check these two files first. Hope it sorts itself soon!

Ed has just fixed my problems.

No matter how good this server turns out to be … the service is better still!
Thanks a lot!

Just use Fing as Ed taught me

Got to meet Ed today and install XDMS. He said it was the first time he'd done it at the airport, waiting for a flight to arrive. I learned what you guys already know, that Ed is an impressive guy, as are the teams he has assembled for this great project. Listening to my new Extreme and a large DXD track (33 min and no problems, so far), it is everthing reported here -- great clarity, dynamic range, and smoothness (I believe others have said this and I definitely concur). Thank you Ed and Emile!

PS - I told Ed I would post something on "Wally", the licensed therapeutic alligator ;)
