Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

It's not your head you'd be shaking if you mixed them up, John.

Have you measured signal to noise on the bps E?
If so, can you share that please?
200nV at very low frequencies, like below 10Hz, lower above. That noise stems from the chemical processes in the batteries. Lower then realistically attainable from a LPS.

@Taiko Audio

Hi Emile,

Have you had a chance to look at the Extreme BPS chassis?

Do you think you'll be able to show a prototype any time soon?

Cheers,

Thomas

Yes, we’re machining prototypes, but we’re taking a bit more time with a focus on ease of assembly. The Extreme as it is very labour intensive to assemble and its ordered in far larger quantities then we ever expected it to be, so we never looked at it from that angle. So we’re now trying to reduce manual labour as much as we can in exchange for increased CNC machining time as CNC machined are relatively easy to add, but finding good personnel in The Netherlands is less easy. BTW we are hiring, so if you’re reading this and want to join our team in Oldenzaal, drop me a note! We’re looking for people with managing skills, able to reinforce our support team, good English writing skills, no 9-5 mentality, and obviously, be exemplary in providing a great customer experience!

Hi Emile,

Thank you for your comprehensive reply!

I fully grasp the kind of challenges you're facing.

Clearly, the fewer the parts and the simpler the assembly, the more consistent the products.

At times, it's wise to know when to hand things over to the machines.

Good luck to you!

I have no doubt you'll come up with the best possible solution.

As for working for you, that could be fun! :)

I can make myself understood in English and a couple of other languages.

I'm sure you'll find someone who's both passionate and skilled willing to join your team in what promises to be an exciting adventure.

Cheers,

Thomas

If it may help, I'm proficient in English and can curse fluently in 6 other languages.

Woofer & Tweet cartoon I’m sure is forthcoming — man on side of the road with sign board “will work for server (and switch, router, BPS)!

of course, he’d want to be on the listening evaluation team in front of the Rafellos.

I read some posts in this thread about hooking screens into the back of a Taiko and installing this or that, modifications, etc. Is the Extreme plug and play like the N30SA, Grimm or do I have to do stuff?

The reason why this is important “to me” is that I have physical limitations that would prevent me for doing a lot of what is in some of these posts. I require a simple solution - plug and play. I have someone who would do the initial install, but can I then just play music?

Thanks in advance.

Joe,
Great question. I've also been following this thread but feel intimidated by the DIY complexity of Taiko. Is it viable at this time for a "plug and play" solution?

Despite my having suggested that people plug a screen in etc, I have never had to do that in all my years of owning my extreme. It’s an option available. With the other servers you mentioned the only option might just have to be send back to factory. I do feel it’s pretty much plug and play.

The modifications that people talk about installing things are also completely optional. It’s only for the alpha version of XDMS for those people who are willing to trade a bit of inconvenience for being part of testing the bleeding edge. I would guess that the Grimm or Aurender would never let as many end users be part of an alpha test, let alone a beta.

If you stick with the released stuff it’s plug and play. On top of which you have the superlative customer service many have waxed eloquent about here…

The Extreme most certainly normally is plug and play. It's just when you encounter an issue that we need to dive deeper into the system. Normally, we can remote access it and resolve the issue but if for whatever reason we cannot get access remotely, a solution can be to connect monitor and keyboard and walk through some settings under our guidance.
