My friends in Hong Kong and I have group-preordered several of them via the HK dealer a few months ago.
We shall get the first production lot.

We will test it against SOtM sNH-10G, the current best switch in the market.
Also, we will mix and match SOtM & EtherRegen in diff dual-switch configurations to find out the optimal setup.
I will post the result on WBF. Pls stay tuned.
;)

Not in HK.
Too expensive!
The official dealers are reluctant to import a demo.

In Singapore, local dealer (sound affairs/Plixir boss) is using it. He told me it is very poisonous. I am scared to try when my SGM arrives :rolleyes:

Looking forward to your comparisons CK.
With regard to the JCAT: maybe you could try the non-Gold version as an alternative. That’s a little more budget friendly: http://hifiknights.com/reviews/accessories/telegartner-m12-switch-magic/
Even the lower non-gold model (with two 2m ethernet cables) cost €2550.
The HK dealers won't import such a demo because they have to pay for the demo.

Kimurastanley : please test it and compare it to other switches in Singapore.
Thanks!

They sold out batch one and batch two in less than an hour! They are now taking orders for batch 3 due in January. Every time I buy something from these guys, its aways a nice upgrade.

These guys are idiots...they jerk around everyone for like a year on their switch then build enough for hardly anyone to get one on release....wait till Janurary now? No thanks.

And I thought I had it bad waiting 6 months for an amp repair Lol.

How does a specialist company know what potential demand is? Do they take advance orders/deposits, or just test the water by asking current customers if they want to upgrade?

Uptone Audio has done WONDERS for my digital. They keep their prices low by hand building their own gear. Yet always respond to questions from customers. Perfect gentleman. As far as the new EtherRegen...YES PLEASE!

This was in development for a year. In the old days no one would even know this. Better they take their time then put out a bad product (which they never do).

They only started takings orders (and money) once they were 100% happy with the final product. They will be shipping in 5 weeks now that production has begun.

What could possibly be wrong with that?

Greetings WBF members:
Alex Crespi from UpTone Audio here. Most of you know that we make our home in a sponsored forum over at AudiophileStyle.com (I simply don't have the mental capacity to keep up and participate on multiple forums. o_O)
But I found this thread and thought I would say hello.

Yes, today was our big launch of EtherREGEN. While it was great and we sold-out of both November and December production runs (including dealer orders that's 500 units and a BOATLOAD of work ahead)--in the first hour (!), we really won't consider any of the money to be ours until all these EtherREGENs are in everyone's music systems and putting smiles on faces.

The aluminum cases arrived today and they fit perfectly. Below are some quick pics, plus a technical highlights graphic I did last week. (Sorry the photos are so big; I do not know how to re-size on this forum.)
Please feel free to ask questions in the EtherREGEN thread in our forum or via our web site contact page.

Thanks very much!

Hello and welcome Alex!

I don't want to navigate the uncountable number of pages & posts on the AS Forum EtherRegen thread.

May I ask you a question here on WBF?
Please share with us more about the grounding post on EtherRegen.
How shall we use it to the best effect?
Thanks a lot!

Please share with us more about the grounding post on EtherRegen.
How shall we use it to the best effect?

Hi CK:
Use of the earth-grounding screw is recommended only if someone is powering the EtherREGEN with a "floating" supply (one whose DC output -VE/"ground" is not common to mains ground).

TheRJ45 magnetics that we chose for the four 'A'-side Gigabit ports have 12 tiny transformer cores per port (typical Ethernet ports have only 4-6 cores per port). And their center-taps are wired to the ground and to the Ethernet switch chip through capacitors such that we maximize the blockage of leakage passing from port-to-port.This works best if the unit is grounded (either through the power supply or via the ground screw).

Keep in mind that the above is just about blocking port-to-port leakage on the 'A' side. This has nothing to do with the full active digital isolation and reclocking moat--to the 'B'-side port--which makes the EtherREGEN unique in all the world.
Yet frankly, with all the care we take on the 'A'-side--with all LT3045 voltage regulation, magnetics, and "femto" clocking--EtherREGEN will be a world-class switch even if the 'B' side port is never used! But the real magic will happen when you cross the moat and use the 'B'-side port to feed your DAC-attached computer/renderer/endpoint.

I hope that is somewhat clear.
Thanks,
—Alex C.

Thanks Alex for the detailed explanation!
I am one of the earliest pre-order customers (via Afterdark) of EtherRegen in Hong Kong.
I have great expectation on it! :)

Yes, I think Adrian has mentioned you to me. I recognize because of your very fine system listed in your signature. BTW, I also like autoformer level control. I have a Slagleformer 47-position silver wire wound. Amazingly transparent.
Telephone Adrian at the end of next week and he may have a surprise to share with you. ;)

Alex, to go completely OT, just wanted to say "hi" as a previously proud owner of Hovland gear, the HP200 and Radia I ran for 7-8 years up until 2013. I had no idea what you were getting up to since Hovland shut up shop. Now I know Lol.
