Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I like the fact you are considering multiple approaches. This gives the user options as to how they want to approach BPS application.
On a different note has Lampizator showed interest in becoming part of the new interface?

Yes they have, currently interested parties are:
-Aries Cerat
-Lampizator
-MSB
-Totaldac

I'm afraid we are facing a copy / paste error in the documentation here.

Both the Switch and Router have a 12-19V DC input and neither are supplied with a LPS. Both can be power by the upcoming BPS options. We could consider supplying a LPS at a later stage which would be a lower cost alternative to a BPS, especially considering it would not need to be regulated, but our manufacturing capacity is currently maxed out.

This is actually a very good news for those who kept their top class LPS
as they might need them for Swich soon and Router little later.
Then they could get a smaller internal BPS for extreme only and be fully set At lower cost.

One very important question to Emile.
Some supplys are grouned ( negative is) ,
others prefer to keep foating ground For device isolation .

What is Emils recommendation for Taiko Swich and Router in regards to the ground ?
Isolate or ground them ?

The BPS will have 3 outputs and can be expanded to more. The Extreme would occupy one of these outputs. That would leave room for the Switch as well as the Router (provided the router is placed near the system).
that's my plan

True isolation by means of a BPS :)

@Taiko Audio , when do you think you will have clarity on what the BPS options will be for current Extreme owners, both in terms of what we would need to purchase and how the upgrade would be accomplished?

from my understanding you can order the BPS separately or as a single box option which changes the dimensions of the Extreme by 2 inches in length and width. For my needs I am interested in the one box option and if the sizing difference is correct it will have space on the existing shelf where my Extreme is now. The switch and router will go on the shelf below and will be powered by the BPS

It is more complicated than that since work needs to be done on the Extreme to accommodate the BPS. Who does it? Where is it done? Etc etc.

I thought you send it back for them to remove existing power supply and insert new one in a bigger chassis

...or swap ac/dc board for dc/dc board and some wiring? All the details are not public yet...but "somebody" knows!

You can be certain his initials are E.B ;)
A new chassis is also required as the internal BPS adds some width to the size of the existing Extreme

I'm also wanting to know which DC power cords should be used from the new Extreme/Internal BPS to the switch and Router. Will they be supplied with the purchase and if not what recommendations would E.B. suggest

1) An internal BPS in the existing current chassis.
2) An internal BPS in a new chassis matching the new Switch and Router looks, this chassis would be slightly larger and considerable heavier then the current Extreme and comes with, imho, improved looks. Of course you can exchange your current chassis under the same upgrade value protection plan. This new chassis will be much easier for us to manufacture and assemble.
3) An external BPS to power your current Extreme externally.

The 3 options posted earlier today (quoted above) are what we will offer.

We’re also investigating on site upgrade options.

I'll take what's behind door number 2......

A new chassis is also required as the internal BPS adds some width to the size of the existing Extreme

The additional size is due to option 2 being an upgraded chassis, heavier construction, better resonance control, different looks (like the switch). Although more costly in material / machining it will be easier to manufacture and assemble saving us considerable time. We have also figured out how to fit the BPS in the existing Extreme chassis.

Do you have an approximate size of the new, single chassis?

...this is where it was a little slippery to my understanding: you mean a second Extreme chassis...not the actual Extreme I already have? In any case, I'm sure you guys will publish a doc when you get a chance. Thanks Emile...

Into the existing chassis, so you keep the same single box like you have now. It will be truly stuffed to the lid though :)

Approximately 19*19*7” ~180lbs, we may be able to shrink it a little but this chassis would also sport improved sonic performance.
The new gorilla on the block
