"Bitter-sweet day today.. Packed my amazing Pacific back into its case to return to Lukasz.

But only because I set up the brand new Horizon that arrived!

It may well continue to improve as it settles in, but what I can say for sure - even just a few hours in - is that it is just worlds better than my Pacific. First thing I noticed was significantly better bass definition and texture, then as everything settled in the additional clarity, depth and soundstage of everything was just astounding. Sound reproduction is way better at much lower volumes and if I thought (as I did) that I'd achieved perfect 'in the room' sound before, it's just been eclipsed.. The quality and timbre of human voices is significantly enhanced and the texture of instrumental voices is also better, along with better clarity and depth. One other delightful surprise is that where recordings have been 'difficult' because of significant contrast between high and low volume passages, I can hear far more detail and they are much less contrasty and far more 'integrated'..
So not much more to say at this stage, except a huge Congratulations to Lukasz and the team at Lampizator - the Horizon has completely blown me away. So much better than I dared expect. Thousands of hours of listening bliss ahead!

I have to admit that the joy of owning a Horizon does not wane. I have had mine since eaaafebruary and it never ceases to produce a smile on my face during every listening session. I continue to hear things that I didn't hear with my Pacific. My Horizon has yet to even hiccup the wrong way. It's built like a Sherman tank and for most I'm betting will be end game as it is just that good.

I am curious as to colors everyone chose. I see a myriad of different colors leaving Poland for their final destination but am I wrong to assume that the Copper top is still the most produced Horizon.

I am enjoying mine so much that the analog side of my system has fallen into disuse as I continue to find and enjoy new music on the digital side of my system. AS always, kudos to Master Yoda

I am curious as to colors everyone chose. I see a myriad of different colors leaving Poland for their final destination but am I wrong to assume that the Copper top is still the most produced Horizon.

My wife chose the "Duracell"... I´ll pass the real copper top and go with the copper colour as it would be 500€ extra. Better spend that on tubes...

I've spent a week with G-Point's demo Horizon for comparison to my Pacific. Here are my thoughts....

I picked the Horizon up last Sunday after a week away in France. When I set it up, my system had been switched off for some time and my reference points were a bit stale. As such, my initial response was a bit disappointed if I'm honest - given the feedback on here I expected to be blown away, rather than merely "yep this is good".

Monday evening was a very different experience however, especially as I started to go back and forward between Horizon and Pacific. Now I was blown away!
I'm at risk of repeating a lot of what has already been said, but the trick the Horizon pulls off is to have such an incredible level of detail whilst still being harmonically rich. It's also very dynamic too - I run 242 tubes in my Pacific usually, as I love the drive and energy they bring, but the Horizon matches it. In some ways, it provides the drive of a 242-powered Pacific with the harmonic richness of a 300B Pacific. Throw in the sort of detail a dCS Vivaldi has, and the Horizon is a deeply impressive achievement.

I also compared the pre-amp stage to my Stern. Without the Stern in the system, there is a touch more clarity but the level of drive drops a notch. Not a case of better / worse but instead a trade-off, but given the quality of the Stern the result is very impressive, especially when you think cost-wise, Stern + Pacific = Horizon (give or take).

The Horizon goes back to Greg today - it will be painful, since as wonderful as the Pacific is in its own right, it sounds clumsy and unrefined in comparison!

My Horizon landed today. I'll be installing it tomorrow. For tonight, I decided to have my Pacific show its stuff with an evening of some pinnacle classical music works. Sort of a going away celebration. One was a performance of the Mahler symphony #3. This is the longest symphony in the standard music repertoire. The range of instrumental color is vast with every instrument allowed to show its most intimate subtleties. If I had to specify the most striking quality of the Pacific, it would be that capability to retrieve the whole range of instruments' palettes. The idea that I'm leaving that behind is a complete leap of faith. However the Horizon surpasses the Pacific will have to be beyond an already vast Pacific horizon.

Ordered in February and yes the Pacific combined with the Lucas Audio LDMS is a great combination.

May I ask what tubes you are using in your Pacific?

I've been using the KR-5U4G or the Psvane 274B rectifier. For the output tubes I've used the KR-PX4 (very neutral) or for higher gain the KR-242. The 242 has more slam-factor, but their higher gain can be problematic for some systems. My system uses a passive controller in lieu of a preamp, so the 242 is/was a good fit. The 242 is a great sounding tube if your system can tolerate the higher gain.

Horizons continue to exodus Poland on a steady basis. Mine just arrived this week, exactly when Fred promised- actually a few days ahead of schedule. Very smooth delivery from DHL. No customs crap to deal with that has plagued other deliveries from the EU.
Now the fun starts.....I have enough tubes to evaluate through Christmas. The only issue is- Christmas of which year?

5 days in here with the Horizon. As was said by someone previously, I wasn't sure what to make of the sound after just a few hours of up time. So much more music was in my room but I could not make sense of it. Since day 2, I now understand how everything the Pacific is has been improved upon - no matter the track. Intoxicating, I cannot wait to get in my chair, nor do I want to leave it. So many well written accolades that have been posted already so I'll leave it to the eloquent, but definitely fear not if upgrading from the Pacific!

With advice from a few folks, I was smitten by the first set of tubes I received with the Pacific and I never rolled or looked back.

Tonight, I am ready for my first tube rolling session (just so happens to align with a home empty of other humans ). So excited about that and no idea what to expect. Checking the manual tube charts so I don't f this up lol. Just a few to try tonight not including some of the favorites mentioned by others to date. Incredibly lucky to have this opportunity. Looking forward to many hours tonight, tomorrow and in the months to come.
