Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Thanks Bob, No 1M is too short

Any sonic advantage of using the Direct Attach Cable over RJ45 in out?
I deleted my suggestion as you already had the RJ45 connected. It would be interesting if you can connect the DAC cable vs the RJ45 in the future to see which you prefer.

Let us know which way you prefer, with the new network card DAC is definitely superior :)
Bob indicated I could remove the cage on the old network and then utilize the Direct Attach Cable. any great advantage there? If no great advantage I'll continue with RJ45 in/out until the card is sorted out and I get the 2M cable.

I was just reaching out to Emile with the same question...

I don't think there will be a night and day difference with the DAC cable or RJ45 into the old card, but it would be interesting to hear if you heard any difference if you get the chance.

I'll be certain to let you know if I do some exploring...

Although it won't really matter once we get the new cards and are using the DAC cable:)

Thanks. I'm about to order the LPS - should I spec it at 7V and what is the max current draw?

Current draw depends on the supplied voltage, at 12V 2A is plenty. We’re just finalising the software tuning, had a bit of a delay due to needing to fix the network card protection issue, which affects power usage so I don’t have exact figures yet.

Ok I’ll wait. Curious if it sounds better at a certain voltage.

The largest variation in that would be caused by your LPS, for a LPS higher voltage might be better as most are noisier at higher currents.

There was some input awhile back in regards to ports on the switch. Something about closer to the power supply? When the network card is sorted (which appears to be getting closer) will the Direct Attach Cable benefit one or the other port? It seems like something was mentioned about this...

Indeed: the preference is with the DAC cable installed nearer to the power DC inlet.
EDIT: this came from Emile ;)

Compared to 12v did your switch sound better to you at 15v or 19v with 2a min?

Dear Emile & WBF Extreme NIC&Switch users:
Ben Lau of Volent Hong Kong told me today that some audiophile ethernet cables didn't work with the NIC & Extreme Switch, such as the ethernet cables of Siltech and Crystal Cable.

I understand that all Siltech and Crystal ethernet cables are 100M, except Da Vinci, the new flagship ethernet cable of Crystal Cable which has a spec of 1G (Ben hasn't tried the Da Vinci ethernet cable yet).
Is this the cause?

What's your experience?
Which brands/models of audiophile ethernet cables work & don't work with Extreme NIC and/or Extreme Switch?
Please share.

Thanks!
