Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

David, I tend to disagree. I own several sets of 6900, several sets of Thomson 5687 CSA and several sets of TS JAN VT231 6SN7 GT round plate. If one were to hear any of these tubes on their own, they all make for fabulous music. To me the 6SN7 is like a 5687 on steroids with an apparent extended top and bottom end, better dynamics, more information and tighter bass but that does not negate the beauty of the 5687 and/or the 6900. The 6SN7 is indeed for my ears the King of the Road
But in looking at the response curves of the 6SN7 tube, it does not to my eyes look as linear as the 300B tube used in the Pacific.

it’s possible that the Horizon biases the tube in its most linear region, but this might suggest that the Pacific’s unique sound will be hard to match using a 6SN7 tube, although the overall system design could indeed be better. Judging from everyone’s reaction, it looks like that’s the case, but it feels like something might be lost in this transition from the DHT sound to the 6SN7 sound.

I am personally happy my Horizon will be coming with tubes and could care less about the varying prices of stock tubes. Every tube product in hifi comes with stock tubes that are new production. I change them with nos if I want, but the standard tubes the manufacturer chooses are a great start. At this price, I highly doubt Lukasz is trying to make an extra buck. He is no doubt choosing what sounds best out of what is available and I am glad he is doing so on my behalf. I will roll tubes anyway. Why would i buy a tube dac if I didnt intend to roll some tubes?

Was just curious I came across my 2 pair today forgot all about them .
So please try them and report back if you may :D

It's been awhile but I used them at first , I remember they were decent but preferred the 5687 and 6SN7 Round Plate . I'm going to try EL51 in a couple weeks but I feel at this time I pretty much found my tube set .

The KT170 using TAS is little to hot for me ontop end , Roon seems to tame this

Which brand 6BG6G tubes are you using and are you using a 6BG6G to 6L6 adapter?

Nice see people carrying with the Horizon tubes rolling , we did few with Lukasz during my recent show in Cranage on which he joined us to help with promotional stuff and talk to journalists.

Long story short, we found that EL34 Mullards, which I absolutely love in TRP ,in Horizon didn't really fit any good . I will put more info about it and yet more about my own tube rolling findings very soon, but for now I think, putting few snaps from our room where the Horizon was officially launched in the UK.

Also two nice snaps with Lukasz visiting sindicated rooms of other exhibitors with whom we connected.

First with Jonathan Billington in who's very simple set up Lampizator Baltic 3 dac was playing incredibly well and Lukasz was seriously taken how much quality was there.

The second, the little upper market set up where Jess Kerr's K320 transmission line spkrs had been playing from TRP dac used as a source.

I hope that you like the pictures and enjoying having brake from the discussion for a while. Our unit now in the UK, remains available to be booked for a demo. Give us a call or PM me on here to make an arrangement.

A quick question to all the Horizon tube rollers:

Are you always rolling all tubes i.e. balanced and XLR?

Or are some of you rolling tubes in SE and RCA so that you only need a pair of each to find out what you really like and then buy the neccessary additional pairs?

I have a ton of pentodes from my TRP but only a pair of each, but to find out what I really like, this should suffice and you don't need to buy quads before you even know that you like them...

What are your experiences?

I am only running single-ended at the moment but I have been rolling quads for the pentodes because I expect to move to balanced at some point in the near future.

Thanks for your feedback.
Which position has to stay empty again?
The left and back part, right?

They can't be empty but they can be different.
