Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

I've never been successful in reaching Fred. I always end up getting Rob. Does Fred have a direct email?
As for trading up - well - I'm still waiting for that supposed opportunity. I have a Pacific and I put a deposit down on the Horizon over 3 months ago and - well - crickets.
I saw Lukasz at the Munich High End Show, but he was extremely vague about production numbers and delivery schedules for the Horizon. The latest news is that Lampi is selling to new customers first before getting around to loyal existing owners looking to trade-up. That policy or practice is not mentioned on the Lampizator site. Has anyone with a Pacific traded up and received the Horizon? I haven't found any so I thought I'd check here.
Read the thread and you'll see several that have enjoyed the upgrade path. That said, I was just informed that my Horizon upgrade is estimated for a November ETA, which surprised the sh@! out of me. I put my deposit on it at Axpona, was told I was #53 in queue, and if they are hitting their numbers (~2.5 units shipping per week on average), I should have been seeing mine in late August/ early September. So, your conjecture about some "leapfrogging" going on sure seems to make sense, in this context. That would, indeed, be disappointing! This is my fourth Lampi climbing up the ladder...

Hi Ray, Fred and I handle our own customers, makes things easier and less convoluted. We've have shipped many Horizons to customers trading up. Several of them have been posting on this thread. I'll talk to the factory tomorrow and get you an updated estimate. Hold tight and keep enjoying that Pac.

Thanks for the response. And are you saying you've all received delivery of your new Horizons?

As I said, I'm still waiting and there have been no updates from Rob or Lukasz, even from my discussion with the latter in May. In fact, it took over 4 weeks to finally get from Rob my number in the queue. It's "45". What number were you, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks again. The information is appreciated. However, it would be better if it came from Lampizator N.A. or Lampizator Poland.

Thanks for your response as well, Rob. I look forward to the update.

You shouldn’t post accusations like that without proof. I think there are at least a dozen of us who have traded in their Pacific for the Horizon. I don’t know if you just made that up or have a really bad source for information.

I sent my check paid in full (less Pacific trade in allowance) on December 30th. My Horizon arrived July 12th.

Where else can you get the full purchase price of your previous top of the line product applied to a new model?

Given the usual new product production issues; unstable supply chains; regional conflict; general economic meltdown around the world, I'm surprised that production is going as well as it is.

Regarding prioritizing new customers, remember that they are not trading in their Pacific, Golden Gate, etc. They're paying full price in cash.

I own a pair of Lampizator 211 monoblock amplifiers and previously owned a Golden Gate DAC. I waited over six months for my Horizon. Given it's performance, to me it was well worth the wait.

You're welcome Ray. Just emailed you with some updates. Feel free to touch base anytime.

My information came from a trusted and reliable source and I don't appreciate the insinuation that my comment was made without due diligence.

Look, I'm sorry if my initial comment has hit a nerve. I find it interesting that it has.

I enjoy this site because it's about the products, the music and the passion of fine audio. This is now trending towards the politics and practices of the industry and I don't want to steer it there. Other sites cover that ground. I don't frequent those sites.

I was just raising a valid question in response to information provided by our members that doesn't flange with my experience. Pursuit of truth in audio begins with honesty. That is another attribute I have come to enjoy here.

With a Pacific at home to enjoy, why would you complain like this? One needn’t be a patient person. The Pacific is sublime!

there could be all kinds of calculations inviolved in order of production. New buyers are paying in full. Trade-ins require more logistics. Region also may play a role in the order of fulfillment . All of that is fine with me. Lampizator should be free to make those decisions as necessary to support itself—and probably in ways we cannot understand since we arent privy to all their internal details… As for customer loyalty,, a 100% trade in of MSRP is unprecedented and incredible. It seems ungrateful to get such a generous offer and then complain that they arent loyal enough because they also didnt follow my schedule…

Thats a big accusation, I never bypass, never interfered with the queue. Even my own home horizon is still number 52, 6 weeks from today.

I traded my Pacific for the Horizon. I made the order in early November, 2021 and received the Horizon in early May - five months. I started with a used GG which I traded (at full retail value) to a Pacific. Then the Pacific (at full retail value) to a Horizon.

When I bought the used GG, it was from a person in the UK on ebay. I am in California, so this would normally be a crazy purchase. However, Lukasz made the decision easy. The UK customer shipped the GG to Poland and at no charge, Lampizator inspected the unit to make sure it was working properly. Once this was done and I was notified, I sent the purchase funds to the UK. Lampizator then shipped me the GG. Lampizator did not charge anything for this service. The only extra cost to the seller was the shipment to Poland. I was frankly amazed at this level of service for a used unit when Lampizator was not involved at all in the transaction.

A STATEMENT (to close the subject of "the queue"):
We put new customers on the list and we dogmatically keep the list in the sequence that it was created.
We never take any money - the prepayments dont concern us, only the dealers.
We dont have a single pre-paid and not delivered Horizon. (!) Whoever has such claim that I TOOK THE MONEY AND DID NOT DELIVER should contact ME and not complain on forums.
Our first batch of 45 chassis is reaching the end - all up to the 45th are on the work-bench on different stages of completion and up to 45th will be shipped till the end of August. Next 45 chassis is coming in mid-August. These dates can be affected by the force majeur events, like wars, lack of tubes, lack of chips, blackouts, covid sick leaves, vacation breaks, shortages of aluminium, inflation related interruptions in supply chains, shortages of integrated regulators, shortages of capacitors, shortages of resistors, shortages of electrolytes, shortages of relays, shortages of PCB laminates, shortages of microcontrollers, shortages of silver wires in teflon, shortages of packing foam (in the case) and shortages of good solder wire.

2,5 units per week is a stabilized and sustainable pace which we will keep for the foreseeable future
Our USA dealership owns at least 10 reservations of the queue at any given time and we dont see the details - it is their decision / discretion how they do the timing / individual names. We ship where we are told to ship and we get paid the day before shipping.
There are exceptions from the "perfect order" when for example we make a show (like Munich or Seattle) when we bring the dac to the show, after the show the first person from the neighborhood who doesnt mind a demo DAC can take it. around 5 dacs were sold this way with a MINOR queue violation because all of the customers were on the list.
And finally - this forum is predominantly US citizen 's forum, and we have 200 countries to serve so it is important to remember.
Current waiting time for Mercedes Benz is 16 months.

I like to know that the new customer is happy and gets fully correct DAC even if second hand. Otherwise strange things can be sold on line and I would suffer the embarrassment. This way we make sure everyone involved gets only the best experience.

This is great! We really must respect and applaud this kind of client-friendly business practice in our industry. (A decade ago when I was an unknown person to them and never a direct customer, VTL did something very similar to this for me.)

Maybe the promise date should be one yr from deposit date , then customer will be happy to receive early . It seems to me that trying to promise a exact date is causing a lot of grief and people are not understanding things happen in life that we can't control.

Order a Paul Hynes power supply maybe you will see it in 2-3 yrs and he requires full payment up front

I suppose it’s safe to say none of us listen with stethoscopes.IMO the Horizon is the finest DACs in production. I was told when Lukasz was here that the top serves as a dust cover. Let’s not make a mountain out of a mole hill. There is no issue here
Of course no one listens with a stethoscope. But a stethoscope has been a useful tool to find and diagnose vibration issues, especially on turntables, for decades. I wouldn't be so quick to say the top plate vibration is a non-issue. I was a bit surprised to find that damping the top plate does have an impact on performance. Bass transients in particular are noticeably slightly effected especially when playing warp 9 music at volume and it's not that hard to demonstrate. If it's a non-issue for you, great. But saying something is a non-issue if you haven't done the experiment is not a very compelling argument.

Of course, the performance is affected by a vibrating top plate that is rigidly connected to the rest of the unit. To believe and claim otherwise would be naive. However, it should be mentioned that not many manufacturers succeed in building rigid and well-damped chassis.

Knock yourself out. It’s a non issue. It’s a dust cover stop tapping it as Lukasz said No need to do any experiment IMHO. Put all the sorbothame you want.To me the Horizon is plug and play. I’ve never enjoyed a DAC as much as the Horizon
